▲ Canada's Thousand Islands are located near Kingston, over 200 km southwest of Ottawa. Kingston, situated at the junction of the Great Lakes, is also known as the "Water City" and was once a renowned water transport stronghold in ancient times. The Thousand Islands in the Thousand Islands region refer to the stretch of the St. Lawrence River connecting to Lake Ontario, dotted with over 1,800 islands of varying sizes—some as small as a reef, while others span several square miles.
