Important Notes

You can use this card to pay at designated convenience stores, food courts, or vending machines without needing cash.

When adding value, place your Octopus card on the Octopus card reader. Do not remove the card until you hear a "beep" and see the transaction complete and balance displayed. If the transaction cannot be completed because the Octopus card was moved too quickly, place the Octopus card on the same machine again.

Do not place more than one Octopus card or other contactless smart card on the Octopus card reader at the same time.

Do not modify the Octopus card without authorization, including bending, writing on, scratching, cutting, or attaching stickers, photos, or other decorations. Otherwise, transactions made with the card will not be recognized, and the remaining balance will not be refunded.

If you book a rental Octopus card, a HKD 50 deposit is required for each card upon redemption. Upon return, staff will refund the deposit and any remaining balance on the card. A service fee of HKD 11 will be charged for each card.

If the balance on your Octopus card is zero or negative, the card cannot be used until you add value to it.

Octopus cards can be reloaded with cash at thousands of locations across Hong Kong (7-Eleven, OK Convenience Store, 759 Store, McDonald's, VanGO Convenience Store, Watsons, Mannings, etc.).

The unused balance on the card can be refunded in cash at any MTR station (except the Airport Express counters).
