Nanxiang Ancient Town is located in Jiading District, Shanghai. It was built in the fourth year of Tianjian in the Liang Dynasty (505 AD) in the Southern Dynasties. It was named after the "White Crane Nanxiang Temple" and is known as "Silver Nanxiang" and "Small Nanxiang is as good as Suzhou City". The ancient town is based on the "cross river and well-shaped streets" and retains the style of the Jiangnan water town in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The bluestone roads and white walls and black tiles complement each other.
