▲ The Abbey Notre-Dame de Sénanque is a renowned Cistercian monastery located east of Avignon in Provence, nestled in a tranquil valley at the end of the Lavender fields. It is also the setting for the story in the book "A Year in Provence." Many visitors come here to admire the lavender fields in front of the monastery, which is often referred to as one of "the most beautiful valleys in France" and frequently appears on postcards. To this day, this simple structure built in 1148 still houses orthodox Cistercian monks in spiritual practice.
