Reviews: Istanbul: Basilica Cistern Fast-Track Entry and Audio Guide

It's a fantastic place. The whole structure seems surreal. With the audio guide, we had before our eyes life hundreds of years ago.

Sightseeing in Istanbul is expensive, so we carefully chose where to go. The Basilica Cistern is one of those worthwhile excursions: the cistern, located below street level, offers beautiful photo opportunities, and you can also see some sculptures made there, such as the Medusa. The ease of getting in quickly (especially since we had to shorten our stay by one day due to circumstances beyond our control) was a great help.

Reviews: Istanbul: Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern & Spice Bazaar Tour

We traveled in the off-season and as a result were lucky to have Hussein as a guide for my husband and me only. Hussein accepted the challenge and introduced us to the intricacies and deep history of the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque and much more. His mastery of the history and delight in sharing his world made the tour accessible and entertaining. The gentleness with which he greeted the resident cats added a humanity that brought this rich city into our hearts!

We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and everything was well organized. We entered Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Basilica Cistern without waiting in long lines which saved us a lot of time. After the tour, our guide also helped us with recommendations on where to eat in Istanbul and how to get an Istanbul card for public transport Overall it was a very informative and smooth experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Istanbul.
