As a start of this 3-hour-long walking tour I will show you the beautiful facade of a 19th-century market hall in the financial, political and economical centre of the capital.
We take our way towards Liberty Square to see the imposing buildings of the Hungarian National Bank and the Stock Exchange Palace, two memorials and a stunning building which once served as the headquarters of the Adria Royal Hungarian Sea Navigation Co. Ltd.
Then after the outer visit of the Hungarian Parliament’s miraculous building we will have a walk up to the rest place of a great Turkish dervish, Gül Baba – the ’Father of Roses’ – in the Rose Hill part of the city. Here you can see a beautiful rose garden around the tomb and you can enjoy the splendid views on the Pest side of the city and the surrounding Buda Hills.
After this monument we will take our way towards Margaret Island, one of the ’lungs’ of Budapest to have a refreshment among the centuries-old trees, the light, airy, beautiful green parks, its rose garden and the countless beautiful flowers brightening in various colours throughout the island. I will show you the island’s famous music fountain, its little zoo hosting a number of special Hungarian animal species, the ruins of the monastery where one of the Hungarian saints was brought up, a popular thermal bath of the capital and a beautiful Japanese garden.
After visiting Margaret Island we take our way back to the Pest side of the city to get a taste from the buzzling city life of Budapest along Grand Boulevard. The tour ends at the most beautiful railway station of Budapest, at the stunning Nyugati Railway Station, with a Hungarian folk music performance made by your tourist guide.
