18 reviews
Yutoku Inari Shrine is located in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture, also known as Chinzei Nikko. It is one of Japan's three major Inari shrines, along with Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto and Kasama Inari Shrine in Tochigi Prefecture. It attracts nearly 3 million visitors annually, making it the second most visited shrine in Kyushu after Dazaifu Tenmangu. Local residents affectionately call Yutoku Inari Shrine "Yutoku-san," and it holds deep significance for those involved in agriculture and commerce. The shrine is nestled among lush green mountains and waters, with its main structures like the main hall, front hall, and tower gate all painted in striking bright red, making it very eye-catching. Every year, about 2.8 million people come here to pray for a bountiful harvest, prosperous business, and safe travels. Saga Yutoku Inari Shrine also provides Chinese explanations for the fortune slips for Chinese visitors, so don't forget to try your luck with one when you visit. Known as the "Sunlight of Zhenxi," Yutoku Inari Shrine is famous not only as one of Japan's three major Inari shrines but also as the Shrine of Flowers. Each season, the shrine is surrounded by a sea of blossoms. Plum, cherry, azalea, and peony flowers bloom in succession with the changing seasons, attracting visitors to admire them. Especially during the rainy season, the hydrangeas, with over 600 plants blooming in the gardens and along the streams, create a vibrant carpet covering the entire shrine. The flowers and green leaves, washed by the rain, become more vivid, and the hydrangeas adorned with water droplets present a unique charm.Kashima · 3.4 km from downtown

In order to avoid confusion, the book display area is The black and white color is divided into sales and borrowing; and considering the busyness of modern people, a mechanism has also been set up that can be returned at the TSUTAYA branch after renting a DVD in the library. Not only that, there is also a coffee shop in the library, where you can While reading a book, sipping coffee, there are also limited-edition merchandise in the museum.Takeo · 11.8 km from Kashima

Kushida Shrine has been an important guardian shrine for the Hakata area since ancient times, and locals affectionately call it "Kushida-san." The shrine is closely linked to the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival held every July, a tradition spanning hundreds of years that has been inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The "Oiyama" race held on the early morning of July 15 is a key part of the festival, where teams carry Yamakasa floats weighing approx. 1 ton and run along a route of approx. 5 km, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The shrine grounds feature a permanent display of ornate decorative Yamakasa floats, standing over 10m tall, whose intricate decorations showcase traditional craftsmanship and serve as a representative view. Near the entrance stands the Kushida Ginkgo tree, said to be over 1,000 years old, with lush foliage that, together with the ancient shrine buildings, evokes a profound sense of history. In early spring, the Kawazu cherry blossoms on the grounds bloom, adding a soft spring touch to the shrine. Whether you are admiring traditional architecture, learning about Hakata customs, or experiencing local festival culture, this place showcases distinct regional characteristics.Fukuoka · 61.6 km from Kashima

The vermilion color of the stage is amazing! That alone is worth the visit. The shopping street in front of the temple is a little rundown, but it's fun to look at the souvenirs. 😊

Ureshino Onsen has a history of 1,300 years and is known as one of the three most beautiful skin hot springs in Japan. The god of this amazing hot spring is located in the Toyotamahime Shrine in the center of the hot spring street. Legend has it that Toyotamahime is the daughter of the sea god in Japanese mythology. She is fair-skinned and beautiful, and is also known as the goddess of beautiful skin. The shrine enshrines the giant catfish, the messenger of Toyotamahime. When worshipping, you need to first scoop water with a spoon and pour it on the white catfish, and silently recite beauty wishes such as wrinkles disappearing and eczema healing quickly, and then gently stroke it with your hands, and your skin will become as white and tender as Toyotamahime, which is quite popular among female tourists.

There are not many places to visit in Saga, but Saga Castle is worth a visit. In the evening, the setting sun falls on the Saga Castle History Museum like molten gold, giving this ancient city a soft and mysterious golden coat. Stepping lightly, stepping into this land treated gently by time, it seems as if you have traveled through the tunnel of time and space and returned to that turbulent era. Saga Castle, whose history can be traced back to the early Edo period, was once the location of the Saga Domain Office. However, after many wars and fires, Saga Castle has been damaged several times. Especially in the Saga Rebellion in the early Meiji era, most of the buildings in the city were burned down, and only the city walls and gates were preserved. The Saga Castle History Museum we see today was built on the basis of the reconstruction by the then domain lord Nabeshima Naomasa in 1838, and has been maintained and restored. The History Museum stands quietly under the city wall. Without the hustle and bustle of the day, it is more solemn and quiet at this moment. The city wall, the mottled stones, every brick and tile are engraved with the stories of the past. They have witnessed the changes of countless dynasties and the baptism of wind and rain, but they still stand tall, guarding the memory and glory of this land. Walking along the city wall, you can still vaguely hear the echo of history Walking into the history museum, the lights are soft and the atmosphere is warm. With more than 700 tatami mats, it is one of the largest wooden restoration buildings in Japan. The museum displays a variety of exhibits, from ancient weapons to exquisite works of art, from documentary records to daily utensils, each of which carries the weight of history and tells the past and present of Saga Castle. In particular, those historical materials related to the late shogunate and the Meiji Restoration period, through materials, images and models, present the history of this period in many ways, making people feel as if they are in that turbulent era.

Kushida Shrine is a must-visit shrine when you come to Hakata. You must come to see the Gion Yamakasa. Although I didn't come in July, I didn't see the big Yamakasa in the city, but I can see the Yamakasa in Kushida Shrine. Read the introduction According to the legend of the shrine, Kushida Shrine was founded in the first year of Tenpyo Hoji (757) and has been the general guardian of Hakata since ancient times. The Hakata Festival is a representative festival of Fukuoka City and is well-known throughout the country.
