The Yoshinori Ruins are the remains of a large-scale Huanhao tribe in the Yayoi period in Japan, covering an area of about 50 hectares. The site was discovered in 1986, and the unearthed items were also recognized as important national cultural heritage. The Yoshinosato ruins have collected and preserved a lot of valuable materials and information to understand the ancient history of Japan. It is now a state-run Yoshinosato Historical Park, part of which is operated and managed by the state, where you can experience ancient Japanese history and culture. Among them, watch buildings and double trenches are considered to be the origins of Japanese castles that focus on defense. Yoshinosato Historical Park is based on the basic theme of listening to the voice of the Yayoi period. Through the restoration of the facilities at that time and the display of excavated objects, a place where you can feel the atmosphere of the Yayoi period has been created. The park is divided into four areas, the entrance area to learn about relevant historical materials, the ancient forest area that reproduces the appearance of 1,000 coffins unearthed, the Huanhao tribe area where you can visit the buildings of the Yayoi period, and the ancient wilderness area with more than 30 types of outdoor amusement equipment. , where you can fully experience Yayoi culture.Yoshinogari · 11.1 km from Kurume

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is a historic shrine in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, built over the grave of Sugawara no Michizane, and is an important center for Tenmangu shrines across Japan. Sugawara no Michizane was exiled to Dazaifu due to political strife during the Heian period and passed away there. He was later revered as the deity of learning and culture, making this a long-standing place of worship for those praying for academic success and success in exams. Upon entering the grounds, the Shinji-ike Pond and the three arched bridges spanning it form an iconic view. The pond is named for its resemblance to the character for "heart," and the three bridges symbolize the past, present, and future, respectively. Several stone statues of reclining sacred oxen are scattered throughout the grounds, reflecting the traditional connection between the ox and Sugawara no Michizane. The Tobiume (Flying Plum Tree) beside the main hall carries the legend of a plum tree that flew here from Kyoto in a single night. It is the first to bloom each year, adding vitality to the spring. The garden is planted with approx. 200 varieties and 6,000 plum trees, creating a particularly rich landscape during the blooming season, and you can also enjoy irises in early summer. Traditional festivals and cultural events are also preserved here. The Usokae ritual held every January involves exchanging wooden bird carvings to express wishes, and the Kyokusui no En (Winding Stream Banquet) is held on the first Sunday of March, where participants dressed in Heian-period attire recite poems by the flowing water, recreating the elegance of ancient banquets. After your visit, you can stroll along the approach and taste Umegae Mochi, a grilled rice cake with a crispy exterior and red bean filling, to experience the local traditional food culture.Dazaifu · 22.6 km from Kurume

Ohori Park features a unique waterscape formed by its expansive lake, small islands scattered throughout, and the stone bridges that connect them. The lake was originally the moat of the Fukuoka Castle Ruins. The park opened in 1929, and the lake covers approx. half of the park's area. Nakanoshima Island is connected by several bridges, and the Ukimido Hall on the island is a representative view. The walking path around the lake is approx. 2 km long, making it suitable for walking, jogging, and cycling. Boat rental facilities are available by the lake, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery of the lakeshore and islands from the water. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom along the lake, while in winter, water birds often stop by. The park also features a Japanese garden, the Fukuoka Art Museum, and a Noh theater. The Japanese garden showcases traditional styles with its pond, artificial hills, dry landscape (karesansui), and tea house, offering changing scenery throughout the seasons; the Fukuoka Art Museum houses works by artists such as Dalí, Miró, and Chagall, as well as a collection of ancient Japanese art; and the Noh theater is used for traditional performances such as Noh and Kyogen. In addition, the park has a children's play area, providing leisure space for visitors of all ages.Fukuoka · 32.1 km from Kurume

The Yoshinogari ruins were discovered in 1989, overturning the common belief that there were no large moated villages in Kyushu! 2,000 urn coffins and the first Japanese bronze castings were unearthed from the ruins.

Kora Taisha Shrine in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is an ancient shrine with a history of more than 1,600 years. The shrine was built near the top of Mt. Kora. Locals believe that the entire mountain is a sacred place where gods exist, and they still attach great importance to the mountain. Pass through the torii gate and climb the 131 stone steps to reach the observatory, from which you can see the entire Kurume city! It has now become a popular photo spot! The most recommended time is sunset, because Kora Taisha Shrine is built on the top of the mountain, so you can enjoy the torii gate, stone steps, sunset and night view at once. Around the summer solstice in June, you can also see the light path where the stone steps and the sunset are in a straight line.

I was overwhelmed by the number of frogs. I empathize with the messages written inside the temple, and I am grateful that by passing through the frog's mouth, I can "rejuvenate, smile, and regain my energy"! This is definitely a temple I recommend!

One of my favorite parks placed in the city, Ohorikoen is quite massive, making it a good place for picnics, anytime strolls, jogging, and also has some swan boats for a fun ride in the lake during daytime. If you want to chill for a coffee there is Starbucks.
