Things to do in Lake Windermere

Beautiful views, lovely cafe’s and places to stay, the lakes as you drive through to Ambleside really made the journey. Even can just do as a nice day trip!

Windermere is such a beautiful place to visit, surrounded by peaceful scenery and incredible views. Walking near the lake was especially relaxing, and there are plenty of lovely spots to stop and enjoy the landscape. I’d recommend taking a boat trip if you have time, as it gives you a completely different view of the area. A wonderful destination for a relaxing day in the Lake District. 🌿⛵🏞️

The Windermere Lake District is the home of Peter Rabbit. The author, with a particular love for animals, created a series of stories based on this area, with Peter Rabbit being the most famous character. While the books may seem small, they are filled with hidden gems. The production is incredibly sophisticated, and each character is adorable.

The museum is free to visit and you can see a variety of old-fashioned steamships, which is an eye-opener.

Dove Cottage is the last stop before arriving at the town of Grasmere. Unfortunately, the Dove Cottage is undergoing extensive repairs to welcome the 250th anniversary of William Wordsworth's birth. At that time, the museum will reopen to the public. [Dove Cottage] Dove Cottage is a house on the edge of Grasmere in the Lake District of England. From December 1799 to May 1808, it was the home of the poet William Wordsworth (7 April 1770 – 23 April 1850) and his sister Dorothy Wordsworth, where they spent eight years "living simply but thinking quickly". During this period, William Wordsworth wrote many of his poems that are still remembered today, including his "Ode: A Hint of Immortality", "Ode to Duty", "My Heart Leaps" and "I Wandered Lonely Like a Cloud", as well as his autobiographical epic "Prelude".
