Huangyadong Cultural Tourism Area is located in the hinterland of the Central Taihang Mountains, Licheng County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, with a total area of 6.7 square kilometers. It consists of the Huangyadong Red Classic Area, Tianwaitian Leisure Experience Area and the Entrance Service Area. During the Anti-Japanese War, this was an ordnance base behind enemy lines in North China. The earliest arsenal established by the Eighth Route Army was born here, and it was known as the "Cradle of People's Military Industry". In November 1941, the Huangyadong Defense War that shocked China and the world took place. Our army defeated the enemy with fewer troops and the weak with stronger ones, creating an unprecedented record of 6:1 enemy and our casualties in the Sino-Japanese war. Huangyadong (material warehouse), the former site of the arsenal, the martyrs' cemetery, the carved fort group and other sites and relics are scattered throughout. It is a relatively well-preserved red anti-Japanese war site and is known as the "anti-Japanese war museum without walls". It integrates the magnificent scenery of Taihang Mountains, the geological wonders of Zhangshiyan, the red military industry culture, and the historical sites of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. It is a cultural tourism area with the main functions of resource protection, cultural promotion, party and government training, study and team building, sightseeing and vacation, summer health care, and outdoor expansion.Licheng · 32.5 km from downtown

Wahuang Palace is a compound of palaces and temples built to honor the Chinese goddess Nüwa. It was built into the side of a steep cliff during the Northern Qi dynasty (550-577). Most of the buildings that remain today were built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, although visitors can still see the remains of Northern Qi dynasty stone engravings and Buddhist grottoes. The palace complex covers a large area – visitors can explore the buildings at the bottom of the mountain before ascending the cliff to visit the hillside temples. She County · 25.8 km from Licheng

Tiantai Temple, located on Tan-shaped Solitary Mountain, 25 kilometers northeast of Pingshun County, was built in 907, the fourth year of the Tianyou reign in the late Tang Dynasty. Tiantai Temple is a monastery of the Tiantai Sect, one of the earliest Buddhist sects in my country. During the Sui and Tang dynasties, Chinese Buddhism saw a split in its practice methods: Southern Yi (meaning "righteousness") and Northern Chan (meditation), with the Southern emphasizing righteousness and wisdom, while the Northern emphasizing cessation and meditation.Pingshun · 13.3 km from Licheng

The Red Cliff Hanging Stream Attraction is a canyon area with red cliffs, with a total length of 3 kilometers. The whole canyon is winding, with cliffs facing each other, jagged and interlaced, like a knife-cut sword, and a work of nature; due to the rushing and turbulent Zhang River, the canyon is shrouded in clouds and mist all year round, and it is unpredictable, forming a fairyland-like ecological landscape; pine trees, shrubs, mountain flowers, mosses, one step at a time, a new scene; mandarin ducks, wild ducks, carp, river shrimps can be seen everywhere. It combines the four characteristics of "divine, strange, classic, and elegant" in one, which is fascinating.Pingshun · 21.8 km from Licheng

It is even more amazing that there is a 3-kilometer-long ridge, just like a reclining Buddha crafted by the nature with auspiciousness. The natural oxygen bar means the virgin forest, and wild flowers can be found from time to time. There is a tranquil quadrangle courtyard, namely, Ziwei Villa. Huangyadong truly deserves its reputation as the most beautiful scenic spot in the Taihang Mountains! The Wenggelang Gorge boasts breathtakingly beautiful cliffs, and the Taihang Mountains are majestic and awe-inspiring. It is also the site of the Eighth Route Army's arsenal. The combination of beautiful scenery and red history makes it both scenic and meaningful. Highly recommended!

The Nuwa Palace is magnificent, and the stone-carved scriptures are truly awe-inspiring. It's entirely walkable and not difficult; there's no need to take the shuttle bus or cable car. The activities in the park are quite entertaining, but the prizes are rather lackluster.

Tiantai Temple in Pingshun County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, is a national key cultural relics protection unit (third batch). It is a solitary wooden structure dating from the late Tang/Five Dynasties period and a gem of ancient architecture in the Zhuozhang River Valley. Located on a solitary altar-shaped platform in Wangqu Village, Beidanche Township, Pingshun County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, it was first built in the fourth year of the Tianyou reign of the Tang Dynasty (907 AD). It was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit in 1988. Currently, only the Amitabha Hall (a solitary hall on a high platform) and a Tang Dynasty tortoise-shaped stele with dragon heads remain; the rest are missing. Once considered a Tang Dynasty structure, it is now generally classified by scholars as an early Five Dynasties wooden structure, a rare ancient temple remnant of the Tiantai school. Must-see ancient building highlights: 1. Amitabha Hall: Three bays wide and four rafters deep, with a nearly square floor plan; single-eave hip roof with deep eaves; four-rafter purlins and two columns extending to the eaves, a fully exposed structure; column-head brackets (single-tiered four-puzuo), no purlins, and the lintel corners do not protrude, exuding a strong Tang Dynasty style; 1-meter-high stone foundation with tiger-skin wall retaining wall; 2. Tang Dynasty Stele: Tortoise-shaped base and dragon-head, the characters are blurred, serving as important evidence for dating; 3. Wing-shaped structure: Gentle curves, typical of early wooden structures; reinforced during restoration, preserving the original charm.

A very nice summer tourist destination, much cooler than other places, and the convenient transportation makes sightseeing less tiring. There's a long stretch of road leading to the scenic area that resembles a provincial highway, with very little traffic; I almost wondered if we were on the wrong road.

Aside from the crowds, there's nothing else wrong with it. It has a classic, old-fashioned feel, and the shops inside are bustling with activity – you can find everything you need for food, drinks, and entertainment. Some local specialties are worth buying. The overall planning of the scenic area is also good, blending traditional historical charm with modern flair. It's definitely worth a visit. My childhood dream of feeding the Monkey King came true! Hahahaha 😂

The murals of the Five Dynasties in the Great Buddha Hall are rare masterpieces among ancient Chinese murals. There are 21 square meters of murals of the Five Dynasties in the Great Buddha Hall. The recognizable part is the "Vimalakirti Sutra Transformation" painted on the east wall. When Vimalakirti was sick at home, Sakyamuni sent Manjusri to visit him. Vimalakirti was lying on the sickbed in a light yellow hospital gown, half lying on his side in the ten-brocade tent, leaning forward, with a solemn and excited look, telling Manjusri about his Mahayana ideas. Manjusri, who came to visit, sat sideways with Vimalakirti under the sickbed, with a sincere face, listening attentively, and thinking about something. The background of the picture is all set off by figures. Sariputra, Xiangji Bodhisattva, Heavenly King, Arhat and many others, with voluptuous figures and different expressions, are all centered on the ten figures in the front picture, echoing each other from a distance and forming a whole. Above the picture, flying celestials are flying, purple mist is lingering, and celestial maidens are scattering flowers, which are about to appear.

🍎Yuanqi Temple has also started charging fees. The toll booth is a temple from the Ming and Qing dynasties. You have to go up to Yuanqi Temple. 🍎The Qinglong Pagoda of Yuanqi Temple is quite conspicuous. It is a pagoda from the Song Dynasty. There are several rooftop warriors pulling chains on the top of the pagoda, which is quite interesting.

When talking about ancient cities in Shanxi, many people will definitely think of Pingyao Ancient City. However, in the Lihou Ancient City, a large tourist attraction recently built by Shanxi at a cost of 3.5 billion yuan, the long history of Shanxi culture converges into a magnificent landscape. The myths and historical stories of Nuwa mending the sky and Chiyou fighting for the sky are reproduced in the planning of this ancient city, showing the thousands of years of history, culture and architectural style of Shanxi.

Juxing Hall is an ancient building imitating the southern wooden structure. The building area is 1,000 square meters. The "Juxing Hall" in Chishuiwan Ancient Town has set the standard for ticket prices based on the market demand of the customer group. This includes early publicity and the creation of a fan circle during the operation period. In the initial stage of operation, the main customer group is the existing customer group (local customer group), supplemented by the incremental customer group (tourist customer group). The local customer group includes the customer group within the city of Handan and the 1-2 hour traffic circle around the project.
