Chiesa Nuova di San Francesco Convertito

The new church is in a small square next to the Plaza Mayor. It was built by King Philip III of Spain in the 17th century and is said to have been the home of St. Francis. Papal Basilica and Sacred Convent of Saint Francis in Assisi

San Francisco (San Franciscan) Church, built in 1361, is the oldest church in Italy and was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2000. Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli – Porziuncola is a Catholic church in the hill town of Assisi, in the Umbria region of central Italy, built from 1569–1679. The ground outside the church is paved with mosaics, and the statue of the Virgin Mary above the church exterior is entirely gold.
