Sicily is located in the central Mediterranean and is a large island in Italy. It is surrounded by the sea on three sides and has a warm climate. Over the past 3,000 years, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Normans have left their mark here, creating layers of historical sights. The Ancient Theatre of Taormina is built on a cliff, facing the azure bay of the Ionian Sea, and is still used for open-air performances today. The Cattedrale di Monreale embodies a fusion of Arab-Norman-Byzantine architectural styles, with large areas of golden mosaic murals covering the interior walls and rows of pointed arches in the cloister featuring Islamic influences. The Arab-Norman architecture of Palermo, along with Cefalu and the Cattedrale di Monreale, is listed as a World Heritage Site, and the old markets in the city retain an atmosphere that blends Arab-style souks with the local vibe of Southern Europe. The natural scenery is equally rich. Mt Etna is one of the highest active volcanoes in Europe, with volcanic activity continuing to this day. The volcanic soil at the foot of the mountain nurtures high-quality pistachios in the Bronte region and distinctive volcanic wines. The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento preserves one of the few groups of ancient Greek temples outside of Greece, where Doric temples like the Temple of Concordia, Agrigento stand in rows under the sun. The long coastline connects golden beaches and rugged cliffs, giving this island both a sense of historical depth and a vibrant Mediterranean atmosphere.Metropolitan City of Palermo · 47.8 km from Piazza Armerina

ValledeiTempli, the Valley of the Temples, is not a valley, but a hill to the south of Acrigento. The terrain is dangerous. On one side, you can overlook the city of Agrigento, and on the other side sit on the green space of the valley, with a wide vision. There are red ancient Greek temple ruins lined up on the top of the hill. The temple is tall and very imposing. Although it has been damaged by natural disasters, wars and early Christians, it is well preserved. In 1997, it was included in the World Heritage List according to the selection criteria C(I)(II)(III)(IV).Agrigento · 69.5 km from Piazza Armerina

Popeye Village was originally the shooting scene of Popeye's music movie in 1980. It was not dismantled after the filming was completed. With the popularity of Popeye, the original scene became a tourist hotspot in Malta. This colorful town is hidden in a bay with a mountain back, and the cabins of various colors instantly make people feel like they have crossed into a comic situation.Malta · Mellieha

Mount Etna is located on the east coast of Sicily and is the highest active volcano in Europe, with an altitude of more than 3,200 meters. This is also the most frequently erupted volcano in the world, with more than 200 smaller volcanic cones around it, and during periods of intense activity, a large amount of lava often flows out. Tourists can take the ropeway cable car, and then transfer to the special sightseeing bus for mountaineering to arrive near the crater, and watch the lava flow and hot spring waterfall, as well as the unique landscape of the black volcanic heap. In summer, there are also outdoor activities such as volcano trekking groups, and the scenery at the top at sunset is particularly beautiful. If you are interested and have time, you can sign up. In winter, it turns into a ski area.Castiglione di Sicilia · 68.4 km from Piazza Armerina

Blue Lagoonis located in the strait between Comino and Cominotto. It is a protected shallow bay with a white sandy bottom and crystal-clear water, where the water color transitions from deep blue in the distance to a bright blue-green near the shore. The water here is shallow with high visibility, and the shadows of boats anchored in the bay are clearly visible on the seabed, making the boats look like they are floating on glass.Blue Lagoon's main activities revolve around the water. Visitors can swim and snorkel in the shallow areas, where the high underwater visibility allows for observing small fish and coral. It is one of the most photogenic natural attractions in Malta.Malta · Ghajnsielem

Comino is a tiny island nestled between Malta Island and Gozo, its name derived from the cumin that once flourished here. The entire island is designated as a nature reserve and bird sanctuary. Its landscape is defined by limestone coasts, low-lying shrubs, and sea caves nestled within cliffs. During the Middle Ages, these caves served as hideouts and bases for pirates, adding a touch of legend to the island. The Blue Lagoon, located between the island and the islet of Cominotto, is a well-known view here: the land on both sides encloses a sheltered, shallow bay where the white sandy bottom makes the seawater appear almost transparent, displaying a bright cyan-blue color. The bay is rich in marine life, making it perfect for snorkeling, diving, and swimming. The well-preserved St. Mary's Tower on the island was built in 1618 under the direction of the Order of Malta. It features a square tower body with corner turrets and walls several meters thick. It was originally used to watch for pirate activity and even served as the Château d'If where the protagonist was imprisoned in the film "The Count of Monte Cristo"; the St. Mary's Chapel from the same period and the 18th-century St. Mary's Battery are also historical landmarks worth visiting while hiking around the island. Films such as "Troy" have also been filmed on the island.Malta · Ghajnsielem

Popeye Village, located near Meliha, is a set left over from the movie's filming. Colorful wooden houses are crammed together along the fjord, their windows painted with cartoon characters. Actors dressed as Popeye and Olive Oyl perform regular fight scenes and spinach-eating antics; the performances are rather exaggerated and suitable for children. You can take a small boat ride around the fjord; the water is so clear you can see the rocks at the bottom. A small shop sells souvenirs and canned spinach with Popeye designs on the packaging. The overall atmosphere is relaxed, but the place isn't very big; you can see everything in about two hours.

Mount Etna is one of Italy’s most spectacular natural wonders and an unforgettable destination for adventure lovers. Located in Sicily, this active volcano offers breathtaking landscapes shaped by ancient lava flows, rugged volcanic rocks, and dramatic mountain scenery. Exploring Etna feels like stepping into another world, with panoramic views stretching across the surrounding countryside and coastline on clear days. Visitors can hike along volcanic trails, explore unique craters, and enjoy the fascinating atmosphere of this powerful natural landmark. The contrast between dark volcanic terrain and the beautiful Sicilian landscape makes it especially impressive. Mount Etna is a must-visit for anyone seeking nature, adventure, and incredible photography opportunities.

Spent an unforgettable day at the Blue Lagoon on Comino Island! The water is crystal clear and stunningly blue—perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, with rugged cliffs surrounding the lagoon. It's a bit crowded, but the beauty of the place makes it worth it. Relaxing on the rocks and soaking in the sun was pure bliss. Definitely one of the most beautiful spots I’ve ever visited!

Comino Island is the smallest of Malta's three inhabited islands, with only a handful of permanent residents. Boats run between Comino Island and the main island of Malta. There are a few food stalls near the boat dock. There are no hotels on the island, and boat services only run until the afternoon. Plan your time well in advance, or you might miss it. The climate is mild, and even in winter it's suitable for hiking. In December, if you go, you can swim in the sea even when it's calm. You can swim near the boat drop-off and pick-up points.
