Gereja Katedral Santo Yosef Pontianak yang pada mulanya berstatus stasi kemudian berganti menjadi gereja induk misi di Kalimantan Barat dikarenakan letaknya yang strategis. Setelah Prefek Pastor Pacificus secara resmi tinggal di Pontianak, Paroki Katedral Santo Yosef berperan sentral untuk karya misi yang mencakup seluruh Kalimantan. Sebagai gereja paroki, kegiatan pembinaan umat dan pelayanan sakramental menjadi karya utama. Selain melaksanakan karya pastoral, gereja juga terlibat dalam karya amal dan sosial seperti mendirikan sekolah, asrama, dan rumah sakit.

di Masjid Raya Mujahidin di Pontianak ini sudah ada sejak zaman dahulu pada era presiden Soekarno, dirinya juga merupakan tokoh publik yang berperan dalam pembukaan masjid tersebut untuk yang pertama kalinya pada tahun 1938 zulkaidah tepatnya tanggal 20 sedangkan pada tahun masehi yaitu sekitar tanggal 23 Oktober 1978.
