On a sunny day, I came to the former site of the 129th Division Headquarters in Chi'an Village, She County, Handan with reverence. This was the command center of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army during the Anti-Japanese War, and witnessed the glorious journey of countless brave soldiers fighting for national liberation.
Entering the old site, the first thing that comes into view is the quaint courtyard, which consists of three courtyards: upper, middle and lower. The lower courtyard is where the headquarters is located, the main room in the north is the meeting room, the west room is the war room, and the east room is the guard room. The two lilac and bauhinia trees in the courtyard were planted by Liu Bocheng, Deng Xiaoping and Li Da in 1941. Now they are lush and leafy, witnessing those difficult years.
The middle courtyard is the residence and office of the leaders, and the south room is the former residence of Liu and Deng. The furnishings in the house are simple, but you can feel the hard work spirit of the older generation of revolutionaries. The upper house is an exhibition hall, which vividly displays the anti-Japanese war deeds of the 129th Division in the Taihang Mountains through pictures, real objects and sand tables.
Walking out of the former headquarters site, we came to Jiangjunling, which is the cemetery of revolutionary martyrs, where some ashes of marshals such as Liu Bocheng and Xu Xiangqian are buried. Standing on Jiangjunling, overlooking the Taihang Mountains, my heart is full of respect. These revolutionary predecessors fought bloody battles for the liberation of the country and the happiness of the people, and their spirit will always inspire us.
After visiting the former site of the 129th Division Headquarters, I was deeply touched. This is not only a red tourist attraction, but also a vivid patriotic education textbook. It makes me deeply realize that today's happy life is hard-won.
