Huanglong Cave

Huanglong Cave

6.8k reviews

Huanglong Cave is renowned for its lofty caverns, deep underground rivers, and dense stalagmites. The cave is adorned with various stalactites such as stone milk and stone pillars, which appear vibrant under the lighting. Particularly notable is the iconic attraction "Sea-fixing needle": Nearly 20 m tall, thick at both ends and thin in the middle, with the thinnest part measuring only approx. 10 cm in diameter. It is estimated to have grown for nearly 200,000 years and is still slowly 'growing taller'. The attraction once invested heavily in insuring it, demonstrating its rarity. After passing the ticket office of Huanglong Cave, there is still some distance before entering the cave. Besides the long corridor for queuing, there is also a spectacular group of interconnected waterwheels. This attraction fully utilizes the underground water resources of the cave, featuring waterwheels with various functions, shapes, and purposes, such as grinding flour and irrigation. With designs ranging from pagodas to mechanical types, the exquisite craftsmanship resembles a real-life "Mohist mechanical city," leaving visitors in awe. Huanglong Cave covers a vast area, stretching approx. 7 km in total length with a vertical height of over 100 m inside the cave. The entire cave features interconnected chambers and underground rivers. Travelers can admire a large quantity of stalactites in various forms such as stone milk, stone pillars, stalagmites, stone curtains, stone pianos, and stone flowers. Among them, the most distinctive is the iconic attraction inside the cave –Sea-fixing needle", thick at both ends and thin in the middle, is estimated to have grown for two hundred thousand years. The "land-and-water" sightseeing route in the cave is particularly fascinating. Travelers first explore on foot, then board a cruise at the dock by the underground river to admire the scenic views and spectacular stalagmites along the waterway. The cruise lasts about 15 mins. After disembarking, the walking tour continues, leading to a magical cave waterfall. The route is one-way, with the exit located near but separate from the entrance.

It's definitely worth a visit. Everyone says that free things are the most expensive, but I think this place is excellent. Li Zijian's works are absolutely worth seeing! The portraits are incredibly lifelike. However, the lunch is really not good, unlike what people say online. You can eat outside.

Yangtian Lake is truly worthwhile! The vast alpine meadows, blue skies and white clouds, and slowly turning windmills create a breathtaking panorama. There are plenty of fun activities; grass skiing down the slopes is incredibly relaxing, and the hillsides are dotted with adorable cartoon installations, making it feel like stepping into a fairytale world. Adults and children alike can have a great time, and every snapshot is a beautiful scene—a truly worthwhile trip.

The salmon in Xiaodongjiang was delicious, and the nearby guesthouses were amazing. The scene of Mai Xiaodeng killing the fisherman in the late-night magazine was very pleasant, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Luckily, the fog was very thick that day, making it incredibly beautiful. Actually, viewing platforms 2 and 3 for casting nets were also quite good. However, you just need to get up early.

Was very beautiful inside, but a lot more walking up stairs than I had imagined! Despite it saying it’s always 16 degrees inside, it actually gets very humid and feels quite warm inside with no breeze so consider bringing a fan and ditching any jumpers/jackets.

A Seven-Character Quatrain on Viewing Five Finger Peak A magnificent sight in Chenzhou, Five Finger Peak soars to the heavens. A towering cliff holds up the azure sky, a thousand layers of verdant ravines rise in layers of peaks. Dense forests hang upside down on the cliff edge, a light mist lingers around the majestic mountain peak. Many visitors rush to climb the stone plank road, but I alone stand quietly at the foot of the cliff.

Shaoshan, the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong, is a renowned red tourism destination in China, possessing a profound historical and cultural heritage and unique commemorative significance. Whether it's worth visiting depends on your interests and travel purpose. Here is a detailed assessment and recommendations: Reasons to Visit: * **Red Education Significance:** * **Mao Zedong's Former Residence:** A well-preserved childhood residence of Chairman Mao, offering insights into his upbringing and family background. * **Mao Zedong Memorial Hall:** Exhibits numerous precious artifacts, photographs, and historical materials, systematically showcasing Chairman Mao's life and the history of the Chinese revolution. * **Bronze Statue Square:** Pay homage to the bronze statue of Chairman Mao, participate in the flower-laying ceremony, and experience the solemn atmosphere. * **Combination of Nature and Culture:** Shaoshan boasts beautiful scenery, surrounded by natural landscapes such as Shaofeng Peak and Dishuidong Cave, combining historical and natural beauty. The area retains the traditional architectural style of central Hunan, with some areas exuding pastoral charm. * **Convenient Transportation:** From Changsha, a high-speed train takes approximately 30 minutes to reach Shaoshan South Station, followed by a shuttle bus (approximately 20 minutes), making it suitable for a day trip. * **Unique Experiences:** Savor Hunan local dishes such as Mao-style braised pork and smoked fish. Purchase red-themed cultural and creative souvenirs (pay attention to quality). Potential drawbacks: Crowds: High visitor volume during holidays or anniversaries may affect the experience. Commercialization: Some areas are densely packed with shops; be mindful of your spending. Preference differences: Those not particularly interested in modern history may find the content somewhat monotonous. Travel recommendations: Suitable for: History buffs, families (for patriotic education), and those seeking red tourism experiences. Best time to visit: Spring and autumn (avoid summer heat and winter break crowds). Itinerary planning: It is recommended to allocate half a day to a full day and plan a combined tour with visits to Changsha (Yuelu Mountain, Orange Isle). Advance booking: Some venues require real-name booking; check official channels for the latest policies. Summary: Shaoshan holds an irreplaceable position in red tourism. If you want to gain a deeper understanding of modern Chinese history or commemorate great figures, this is well worth a visit. Conversely, if you prefer natural scenery or diverse entertainment, lower your expectations accordingly. A well-planned itinerary will enhance your experience.

The National Day holiday was incredibly crowded, thankfully we hired a guide, otherwise we wouldn't know what to see. Our guide, Xiang Kexin, explained things in great detail, catering to both the young and old, and the audio was crystal clear through the headphones.

The unique landscape is truly breathtaking; it's a filming location for Avatar. Even after the National Day holiday, there were still quite a few people, especially foreigners – Zhangjiajie has a certain magic. The scenic area management is acceptable; there are many shuttle buses, making it convenient to go up and down the mountain. However, some details like cleanliness could be improved.
