Things to do in Teriberka

Skelet Kita

On the Arctic Ocean coast in the Russian town of Teriberka, a massive whale skeleton relic, "Skelet Kita", stands silently. It is not only a historical record of the rise and fall of the Soviet whaling industry, but has also become a thought-provoking attraction on this Arctic land. Over time, the bones have been worn by wind and snow and battered by waves, forming a scene like the remains of a giant beast that inspires awe. In the icy polar wilderness, the skeleton's presence is like a painting of the far north, full of a raw, desolate atmosphere. These whale bones bear witness to history and natural change, drawing many researchers and photographers to study them. When you stand in the Arctic wind and gaze at it, you feel not only a visual shock, but a profound dialogue about the ocean, life, and history.

Teriberka Plyazh

Teriberka Plyazh is one of the most pristine and magnificent coastal view areas along the Barents Sea coast of the Kola Peninsula, widely known for being a filming location for the Russian film "Leviathan". The beach is famous for its massive, smooth, oval-shaped rocks polished by the waves, which locals vividly call "dragon eggs" or "dinosaur eggs". Scattered near the shore are the rusted wrecks of abandoned wooden ships, which, together with the gray sky and boundless wilderness, create a striking post-apocalyptic aesthetic view. Influenced by the North Atlantic Current, this bay remains ice-free year-round. In summer, you can enjoy the spectacular midnight sun, while winter offers an excellent location for viewing the Northern Lights. Beluga whales also occasionally appear near the shore in early summer. The tundra landscape surrounding the beach and the waterfalls cascading directly into the sea together form a unique polar natural masterpiece on the Kola Peninsula.

Staryy Korabl'

Staryy Korabl' is a naval historical site on the coast of Severomorsk on the Kola Peninsula, associated with the landscape of decommissioned Cold War-era warships remaining in the region, attracting photography enthusiasts and history explorers with its sense of historical vicissitudes and unique industrial ruin aesthetic. Severomorsk is the location of the main base of the Russian Northern Fleet. This background gives the various abandoned warship relics in the area a special historical narrative value, serving as a unique window for understanding the remnants of the Soviet Navy era.

Kacheli

Kacheli is an outdoor recreational facility in Severomorsk that offers a swing experience in an urban public leisure space. It is a daily destination for local residents, families, and children to relax and have fun. The facilities here are simple and rustic, blending into urban public life, making it one of the places to experience the daily atmosphere of a small town in the Arctic Circle.

Graveyard of ships

The Graveyard of ships is located near the coast of the Kola Peninsula in Russia and is a gathering place for decommissioned warships and submarines left over from the Cold War. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, a large number of ships were abandoned in hidden bays and along the shores near Kola Bay due to a lack of funds for maintenance, gradually rusting and becoming a unique destination for photography enthusiasts and history explorers. The abandoned shipwrecks and the wild coastline together form a bleak and stunning industrial ruin landscape, silently telling the historical memory of that era of great power rivalry. Since Severomorsk is an important base for the Russian Northern Fleet, public access to some areas is limited, so please pay attention to local management regulations before visiting.
