Jervis Bay is located 150 kilometers south of Sydney and is a natural harbor 16 kilometers long from north to south and 10 kilometers wide from east to west. It is a suitable place for scuba diving (snorkeling) and recreational fishing, and there are also scallop farms in the area. Jervis Bay is also an ideal location for whale watching. Since the exit of Jervis is on the north-south migration route of whales, some whales will choose to rest in Jervis Bay halfway. Most of the cetaceans seen in Jervis Bay are humpback whales, which migrate along Australia's east coast between June and November. In addition to humpback whales, southern right whales, killer whales, fake killer whales, minke whales, and sometimes even blue whales are also found.Beecroft Peninsula · 6.7 km from Vincentia

Sydney Harbour Bridge

The Sydney Harbour Bridge spans across Sydney Harbour, connecting the city center on the south shore with the north shore, and faces the Sydney Opera House to the east across the water. The iconic duo appears in almost every Sydney postcard. This steel arch bridge, completed in 1932, is majestic: its main arch spans over 500 m, with the arch crown standing more than 130 m above sea level. The approximately 50 m-wide deck accommodates train tracks, car lanes, a bicycle path, and a pedestrian walkway, remaining a vital urban thoroughfare to this day. There are many ways to experience the bridge: you can drive or take a train across it, pass underneath on a sailing boat or ferry, or choose the leisurely option of walking across. The pedestrian walkway is on the eastern side, accessible via stairs from the Rocks or the north shore, while the bicycle path is on the western side. When reaching the south shore, don't miss the tower at the southeastern corner. Climb its roughly 200 steps to the observation deck for a level view of the steel arch and a panoramic harbor vista. The tower also houses an exhibition on the bridge's construction history. For a closer encounter with the sky, join the bridge climb experience: suit up in the provided gear and follow the guide along the arch ribs to the summit. Millions have completed this climb since its inception, with each offering unique views—dawn, daylight, dusk, and night. Gazing down at the Opera House and the entire Sydney Harbour from the top is a highlight for many travelers. On New Year's Eve, the bridge becomes the backdrop for the city's fireworks display, with prime viewing spots along both shores in high demand.Australia · Sydney
Sydney Fish Market

Sydney Fish Market

7.3
4.4/5
479 reviews
The Sydney Fish Market is one of the larger seafood distribution markets in the Southern Hemisphere and a long-standing destination for locals to purchase fresh catches and enjoy seafood. It has now fully relocated from its longtime Pyrmont site to a new venue by Blackwattle Bay, featuring a wave-like roof covered in fish-scale textures that stands out among the bay area's architecture. The market's wholesale tradition continues to this day: every weekday morning, a Dutch-style clock auction begins on time, with seafood arriving overnight from the coasts of New South Wales, as well as Tasmania and New Zealand, showcasing over a hundred varieties in the auction hall. The retail area is the domain of visitors, where crushed ice displays feature Australian lobsters, king crabs, mud crabs, Sydney rock oysters, salmon, snappers, and barramundi, with the constant bustle of oyster shucking, fish filleting, and packing. The venue gathers around forty merchants, including long-established fish stalls like Christie's, Nicholas, and Claudio's, as well as small eateries offering freshly sliced sashimi, Malaysian spicy crab, and New Orleans shrimp burgers. It also features a bakery, artisanal deli, produce stand, and beverage shop. Dining here is casual: grab a plate of freshly shucked rock oysters or sashimi and enjoy it by the waterfront terrace before continuing your stroll. For a sit-down meal, there are restaurants overlooking Blackwattle Bay. If you're curious about the seafood industry, join an official behind-the-scenes tour to witness the early morning wholesale auctions or sign up for a cooking class at the Sydney seafood school to learn how to prepare the day's catch from professional chefs. If it's your first visit and you're unsure where to start, try the freshly made seafood from the deli counter first. For a more budget-friendly option, ask the fishmonger to recommend seasonal lesser-known fish varieties—they're often more affordable than star species like lobster or salmon, without compromising freshness. If taking raw seafood to go, remember to ask the vendor to add ice and pack it in an insulated bag, then refrigerate it as soon as possible.Australia · Sydney

Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

Royal Botanic Garden Sydney was established in 1816 and is located on the shores of Farm Cove on the eastern side of Sydney city center, adjacent to the Sydney Opera House. The park spreads along the bay, with waterfront paths connecting various themed gardens. The silhouettes of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House follow you along the way, making it a prime spot for capturing classic photos of Sydney. Most visitors enter from the Opera House side and walk east along the waterfront to Mrs Macquarie's Chair at the end of the park. Standing by Mrs Macquarie's Chair, you get the postcard-perfect angle of the Opera House and the bridge together, which is especially photogenic in the soft light of early morning and evening. Visitors who love plants can explore further: the rose garden is fragrant during the blooming season, while the succulent garden, fernery, and herb garden each have their own charm. The palm grove area preserves old trees planted as early as 1828, and you can even find the Wollemi pine, known as a living fossil, in the garden. The glass greenhouse named The Calyx features a green wall that is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, showcasing plants with different themes year-round. The park also offers ongoing cultural tours led by local guides, which cover both the plants and the history of the Indigenous people's connection to this bay. Not far from the park exit are the State Library of New South Wales and Parliament House, both of which are impressive and striking buildings, perfect for a quick photo stop. The entire park is easy to explore and perfect for a morning jog or spending half a day relaxing on a picnic blanket. Many visitors include this in the same itinerary as the Opera House.Australia · Sydney

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is located on the eastern side of Sydney city center. It is a rectangular green space surrounded by high-rise buildings, separated from St Mary's Cathedral by just one road, offering a quiet retreat in the bustling city. The history of this green space dates back to 1810, making it one of the oldest public parks in Australia. Today, it is divided into north and south sections by an east-west avenue, with rows of tall fig trees lining the paths. Lawns, flower beds, sculptures, and fountains are scattered throughout, making it a rare oasis for relaxation in the city center. Most of the attractions in the park have specific names. The Archibald Fountain in the north section was built to commemorate the alliance between France and Australia during World War I. The main statue is the sun god Apollo, with his right hand extended and his left hand holding a lyre. Horses, turtles, and dolphins spray water outward from various tiers of the fountain, which is also surrounded by bronze sculptures from Greek mythology, including the moon goddess, Pan, and Theseus subduing the Minotaur. Here, you can capture the fountain and St Mary's Cathedral across the street in the same frame, which is a representative photo angle in Sydney. On the east side of the boundary between the north and south sections stands a bronze statue of Captain Cook. The obelisk at the northwest corner of the north section, which mimics an ancient Egyptian style, is actually just an underground drainage vent built in the 19th century. Locals jokingly call it "Thornton's Scent Bottle," and it is often mistaken by tourists for a monument. The Anzac Memorial in the south section was completed in 1934. Its Art Deco facade is solemn and dignified, and the long reflecting pool in front of the building adds to the tranquility, providing a stark contrast to the bustle around the fountain in the north section. There are many seats under the shade of trees. On weekday lunchtimes, you can often see office workers sitting down with their meals, while weekends are full of locals picnicking, jogging, playing ball, and sunbathing. Street performers can be seen performing by the fountain from time to time. When visiting, you can start from the fountain, walk south along the tree-lined avenue shaded by fig trees, and go straight to the Anzac Memorial. The route is simple and straightforward, and it won't take long to see the highlights of both sections.Australia · Sydney

Kiama Blowhole

12 reviews
Kiama Blowhole is an iconic coastal wonder in the coastal town of Kiama in southern New South Wales, Australia, located on the headland at the foot of the lighthouse. The name "Kiama" has long been interpreted as "where the sea makes a noise," which refers to this very spot. The headland's rock formations were created by the cooling of volcanic lava over 200 million years ago. Years of wave erosion have worn away the softer parts of the rock, carving out a sea cave that connects to the ocean at the bottom and opens upward. Whenever swells push into the cave entrance, seawater and compressed air shoot up through the hole at the top of the cliff. The water column can shoot up 20–30 m high, and the low roar can be heard from far away. The spray can even dampen visitors on the viewing platform. The eruption rhythm is closely related to the wind and waves: when the southeasterly swells are strong, the water column erupts almost continuously, while on calm days, you may need to wait patiently. On sunny days, the mist often refracts sunlight to create a rainbow, a common and delightful sight here. Please stay on the viewing platform behind the fence while watching. The rocks on the headland are slippery year-round, so do not cross the railing for photos. While waiting, take a look around at the town's harbor and the cliff-lined coast. During whale migration season, you might occasionally catch a glimpse of whales spouting on the ocean surface.Kiama · 47.5 km from Vincentia

Jervis Bay at the end of South Wales. The scenery is so beautiful that it is beyond description. It was cloudy and drizzling that day, so the photos are a bit dark, but it still can't block the beautiful scenery. Fine yellow sand, blue sea, white clouds, seagulls flying, and a whale watching group ready to set off. Highly recommended.

I always check other people's reviews before each trip for reference and then add my own. Although it was peak season, the crowds weren't large at all, not even comparable to those in China. Just arrive 10-15 minutes before the cruise departure time; e-ticket verification is very quick. You can see the opera house, the harbor bridge, and the coastal residential areas, etc. It's definitely worth a visit!

Hyde Park is basically a free urban park. There's a fountain where you can take photos with St. Mary's Church, but nothing much to do. There's a memorial that you can visit, but it's all in English. It's suitable for taking pictures, checking off your list, or just relaxing and sunbathing. It's a place where locals stroll around, not really considered a tourist attraction.

The blowhole is located in the small town of Kiama. Kiama is not far south of Wollongong, and Wollongong is not far south of Sydney. There is a direct highway from Sydney to Kiama, which is very convenient for self-driving. The scenery along the way is beautiful. You can see the constant changes and integration of cities, forests, wilderness, mountains, pastures, cliffs, oceans, towns, and cities. Therefore, it is highly recommended to drive from Sydney to Kiama. 😍The highlight of Kiama is the blowhole. The blowhole can spray water thanks to a wonderful structure of rock. It consists of two parts: one is an underground trumpet-shaped seawater channel, and the other is a vertical hole connecting the end of the trumpet-shaped seawater channel to the upper rock platform, that is, the blowhole. Kiama faces the vast Tasman Sea. There are often strong winds from the ocean that blow up big waves. The big waves rush into the trumpet-shaped seawater channel. As you go deeper into the channel, the channel becomes narrower and narrower. The squeezing force of the seawater on the surrounding rock walls becomes greater and greater, and the speed of the seawater becomes faster and faster. When it reaches the hole, a large amount of seawater is pressed upward at high speed, forming the famous water spray landscape. The stronger the wind, the more spectacular the landscape. 😯 Fortunately, when I came to Kiama, the wind speed was very high. On the one hand, I had to endure the erosion of the strong wind, and on the other hand, I could also witness the magnificent natural power. 😅 However, when the wind is strong, it is not recommended to get close to the viewing platform below, because the big waves and strong winds add up to one or more free sea baths. 😂The water spray landscape often appears with rainbows! The more spectacular the water spray landscape, the greater the chance of a rainbow appearing! Find a suitable angle and the right time, you can see a complete rainbow bridge! 😀You might as well look around! You can see the cliffs stretching endlessly to both sides, the small villages dotted among the lush green lawns on the cliffs, and the white lighthouse behind you quietly guarding the blue ocean in front of you for who knows how many years. 😊More importantly, it's completely free here! 🩷Here, if you don't have enough fun on your seaside trip, you can go north to Wollongong and visit the Sea Cliff Bridge and Royal National Park along the coastal road, where there are more exciting things waiting to be explored!
