The Netherlands is great, but I won't be coming back because it's just too...

“Before coming to the Netherlands, my mind was full of tulip fields, fairytale windmills, and picturesque towns.”

“Stepping into Giethoorn feels like walking straight out of the pages of a fairytale where roads were entirely forgotten.”

Apenheul Ape Park is located in the city of Apeldoren and is a rare open zoo in the Netherlands that specializes in various primates. The biggest feature is that there are plenty of monkeys to move around freely in the park, some of which will jump around visitors, perfect for animal lovers and family fun. The whole park environment is super natural, not as sparse as the usual zoo separated by glass, the experience is very strong!

Recommended tour routes:
After walking in from the entrance, follow the route step by step to see different monkey breeds, including yellow-brown curl-tailed monkeys, black howler monkeys, ring-tailed lemurs, and red howler monkeys. The key areas are the “Monkey Islands” and the “Free Area” where there is a good chance of seeing monkeys walking up to you naturally. It is recommended to make sure to set aside time to attend the regularly held animal keeper lectures (English/Dutch) to learn about the monkey routines and interesting things.

Must-play items and photo spots:
1. Ring-tailed lemurs and small monkeys free zone - some monkeys will walk around at close range, be careful not to let him take away his handbags, phones!
2. Monkey Rope Walk – Some areas are designed with rope walkways for you to simulate a monkey walk.
3. Treehouse Observation Station – You can overlook the entire park from a high place, great for taking pictures.
4. Keeper Feeding Demonstration – The monkeys will flock to grab food for dramatic photos.
5. Kids Discovery Park – Parent-child families remember to bring your kids to try out the interactive play area.

Attraction tips:
1. It is highly recommended to buy tickets online in advance, especially crowded during peak season or Dutch holidays.
2. Now there is a designated picnic area, no eating and drinking everywhere in the garden, or being robbed by the monkeys.
3. Please bring a water bottle, light rain gear and comfortable shoes as the park is quite large and takes several hours to walk.
4. Please keep your personal items properly, monkeys will definitely be interested in snatching tissues, plastic bags, etc. when they see them.
5. There are multi-language information license plates, very detailed English brief, do not worry about language issues.
6. Opening hours are from 10pm to 5pm daily, with entry before 3pm at the latest, so you have enough time to play slowly.

Notes:
· Monkeys are not allowed to be fed in the garden. You must collect your own food.
· In certain areas, special attention should be paid to safety on the hike and children must be accompanied by a parent.
· The park environment is mainly natural woods, remember to apply mosquito repellent in summer.
· Most facilities are outdoors, remember to prepare a raincoat in the rain;

Apenheul is really a place where you can experience animals in depth, hike and have fun, especially suitable for families or close friends to experience the daily trivia of monkeys. Every time I take a photo, I am surprised and full of freshness!
