🗺️ My North India Route: 15 Days Through Delhi & Rajasthan 🇮🇳

“If you’re planning your first trip to North India, 15 days gives you enough time to experience Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan without turning the whole trip into a race between cities.”@WorldTraveller_ · 20 days ago
Planning or Spontaneity

When we were planning our trip to India, we didn't account for a holiday that shuts down the entire center of Delhi. We found out at the last minute and suddenly changed our plans, going to Jaipur because of it. That gave us a small window, and we decided to visit the city of Pushkar.

It's a holy city with a sacred lake in the center. Nowhere have I seen so many homeless cows and such an abundance of colorful historic buildings in one place. I literally didn't want to put my phone down during the walk. I have a million photos from every corner of the lake. There are a huge number of temples around, and people were carrying flowers in the first half of the day and lowering them into the lake. I was told it's a sacred ritual. After that, they performed ablutions in it. Around it there are tons of shops, including ones with fixed prices, which made us very happy. The outfit I was wearing was bought in this very city.

15th-century pavilions, old houses, temples, children studying to become servants of the sacred. This city is as colorful as it gets. After lunch there was no one there, so we walked around absolutely peacefully and no one bothered us while we were on the shore, which is completely untypical for India. I'm incredibly glad our plans got disrupted and we still got to visit this city.

The only warning I have is about scammers. They can persistently give you flowers and say it's all absolutely free, but after you take them, they'll say they were sacred and need to be offered in a certain way, and for this ceremony you're already obligated to pay. Some guys working on the territory of the Brahma Temple, the largest temple in the city, tried to trick us like that, and one man on the lake shore shouted that if I don't want to take his flowers, I didn't respect his country or his culture. But after we said we had no money, he left. And watch your step carefully, because there are still a lot of cows living here :)

Holy site in Pushkar, India

Holy site in Pushkar, India

“Address - Lake Pushkar, India Ambiance/Facilities - If you go during full moon (auspicious dates) you will get to see the locals bathing at the site and making prayers.”@RL13 · 3 years ago
The small town Pushkar is built around the lake. The houses built around the lake are mostly white. Most of them are temples, which are especially beautiful under the lake. The lake here is a holy water to the devout Hindus, just like the Ganges River. They believe that holy water can wash away sin and seek the blessing of the gods. In the evening, I came to the lake. There are many European and American tourists practicing yoga and tambourine here. It is very lively.
