What is a Family and Friends Railcard?
A Family & Friends Railcard offers discount fares for families and small groups traveling together in the UK. The Railcard can be purchased by any adult (aged 16 or over). For the Railcard to be valid for use, 1 child (between the ages of 5 and 15) must be part of the travel group. Two adults can be named cardholders for this Railcard, though this is not necessary. You can travel in a group of up to 4 adults and 4 children. Adults receive 1/3 off rail prices, whilst child fares are reduced by 60%.
How much is a Family and Friends Railcard?

- On the Trip.com app, go to "Account", select the settings icon in the top-right corner, and ensure that your country or region is set to the United Kingdom.

Using your Family & Friends Railcard
Which travel areas does a Family & Friends Railcard cover?
Railcards can be used for rail discounts in the area known as Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales). They cannot be used for rail travel in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland.
Can you use a Family and Friends Railcard before 10 AM?
On weekdays, discounts are not available for journeys between two stations within London and the South East area during morning peak hours (before 9:35 AM). However, you can travel at a discount rate at any time on weekends and public holidays.
Can 2 adults travel on a Family and Friends Railcard?
Yes, but they must also have a child (aged 5–15) with a paid ticket traveling with them, too. Note that two adults can also be named on the Family & Friends Railcard, though this isn't necessary.

Can you travel alone on a Family and Friends Railcard?
No, you must be accompanied by at least 1 child (aged 5–15) with a paid ticket.
How many people can travel on a Family and Friends Railcard?
Up to 4 adults (aged 16+) and 4 children (5–15) can travel using the Family and Friends Railcard. It is required that the group include at least 1 adult and 1 child.
Can I use a Family & Friends Railcard in First Class?
First Class tickets are not valid for a discount using a Family & Friends Railcard, except when using a First Class Upgrade at weekends (subject to availability), and upon payment of the appropriate supplement.
Can I get a refund if I don’t use my Family & Friends Railcard?
No, Railcards are non-refundable once they have been issued.
What happens if my child turns 16 while my Family & Friends Railcard is still valid?
If you have a 1-year Railcard, they still receive a 60% discount as long as the Railcard remains valid. If you have a 3-year Family & Friends Railcard, your 16-year-old can only travel as a child on the Railcard until the day before they turn 17.
If I buy a Family and Friends Railcard with Trip.com, can I use it with tickets booked through other channels?
Absolutely - your Two Together Railcard is available across all UK train services and providers. You can still apply a Railcard to train tickets booked through other channels. Just be sure to have the Trip.com app (where your Two Together Railcard is stored) ready to present to any ticket inspector when traveling.
Can I share the Railcard with the secondary cardholder's Trip.com account?
No, the Railcard will only exist in the account of the person who originally purchased it.
