    No visitor center!

    It just wasn't our day for wildlife, but the drive was beautiful & relaxing. I was incredibly disappointed that the visitor center was closed - and appears to be permanently so. It was fine for us, ...

    We love our national wildlife refuges

    Always happy to see a national wildlife refuge. Since it's the middle of summer, wildlife is quiet, but we did see quite a few water birds and it was a pretty drive thru the refuge.

    Summer is a slow time at the refuge

    Saw lots of ducks, one hawk and one heron. Not much else to see. Visitor center was closed. Very easy to get to.

    Nice wetlands for birds

    Has been a decent place for birds over the years. Summer is a tougher time to see birds, but it was well-maintained nonetheless

    Auto tour loop and walking trail

    Was able to see many birds along auto loop trail (not as many on walking trail). Very close to town. Free.
