Wen Feng Pagoda

Wenfeng Tower is located in the northwest corner of the ancient city of Anyang. It is 38.65 meters high and 40 meters in circumference. Because the tower was built in Tianning Temple, it was originally named Tianning Temple Tower. Because it is located in the northeast of the old Zhangde Prefecture Confucian Temple, it is also called Wenfeng Tower as a symbol of the local "literary style". Wenfeng Tower was built in the second year of Guangshun in the Later Zhou Dynasty of the Five Dynasties, and has a history of more than a thousand years. Although it has experienced the test of artillery fire during the war years, it still stands tall and majestic. The architecture of Wenfeng Tower is full of unique style, with the characteristics of being larger at the top and smaller at the bottom. From the bottom to the top, each layer is larger than the previous one, and gradually becomes more spacious. It is an umbrella-shaped form, which is rare at home and abroad.

The tower is 38 meters high, octagonal, and has five floors. It is made entirely of bricks, and patterns are carved on the dark red bricks, mainly about Buddhist stories. There is a small vase-shaped pagoda on the top of the tower, and its shape is very similar to the White Pagoda in Beihai, Beijing. Climbing the tower, you can overlook the distant mountains and nearby waters of the ancient city.
