① Departure time and sunrise angle
Winter sunrises are later, we arrived around 6:50 am, entering from the West Gate of the Summer Palace, many spots were already taken by photographers shooting time-lapses. Around 7:20 am, the sun rose from the northeast, at a 60-degree angle from the Seventeen-Arch Bridge, my bestie and I took photos towards the sunrise along the West Causeway, a view at every step, take several shots at each angle, choose the best one, don't center the person in the frame, usually, it looks better a bit to the right, see reference images 3, 4, 5, 6
② Recommended spots after sunrise
⚬ Picture-in-Picture
Picture-in-Picture is the most popular spot in the Summer Palace since its reopening, many angles are very photogenic, the glazed tiles and red walls exude an elegant grandeur of the last glory of that era, the backgrounds in images 7, 8 are beautiful, take several shots with your bestie!
⚬ Various Corridors
The Summer Palace has many corridors and long galleries that are very photogenic, especially in the morning when there are not many people, now take a few shots with your bestie in the corridors, see image 9
⚬ Harmonious Interest Garden
This garden is the most photogenic in the Summer Palace, every angle has its own beauty, and the overall architecture hasn't been heavily renovated, the original feel is very poetic, as shown in image 10, here you can take a few time-travel photos with your bestie!
►Playtime: The overall journey takes about 2 to 3 hours, since you get up early, after taking photos, you'll find that there aren't many visitors

You can enjoy different scenery in the Summer Palace in all seasons. In winter, it is cold and there are few tourists. You can walk along Kunming Lake as you like. The Yufeng Pagoda in the distance is graceful and beautiful, and the Buddhist Incense Pavilion nearby is fairy-like. Beautiful black swans stay on the huge Kunming Lake. The six bridges on the West Embankment have different shapes. Although the leaves are gone, all these views from afar and up close are like traditional Chinese ink paintings that make people linger.
The Summer Palace not only attracts tourists with its magnificent architecture and beautiful natural scenery, but also allows tourists to have a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture through rich cultural activities. Visitors can taste traditional tea art in the teahouse, or learn calligraphy and painting in the academy. In addition, the Summer Palace often hosts Peking Opera performances, guqin performances and other activities.
The Summer Palace is an imperial garden built in the 15th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1750). Standing on the Buddhist Incense Pavilion on Longevity Hill, you can have a panoramic view of Kunming Lake, Zhichun Pavilion on the West Bank, Seventeen-Arch Bridge, and Kuoru Pavilion. The Houxi River and Suzhou Street in the Summer Palace are particularly beautiful in late autumn!
The scenery is superb, there is a real meaning here, I want to distinguish the forgotten mobile phone Gaode + 20 yuan self-service explainer + 10 yuan commemorative map 🗺️

Summer Palace is one of the must visit destinations if you’re visiting Beijing. It takes around 3-6 hours to see all of it in a leisurely manner. There’s so many beautiful places where you can take very nice pictures. You can go on a boat ride around the lake which is very nice.Tips: Go there early so you can enjoy it fully. Bring a picnic with you.
wonderfuel place with a lot space to explore, just closes quieter early (before 5pm) so you should be quick when you plan to catch the sunset. The boattrip is very worth taking.
The view of the Summer Palace is good. The location is in Haidian District. There are a lot of people. It is recommended to make an appointment to buy tickets in advance. Go for a whole circle and walk for about two hours. It is basically a large park inside.
