It's just a stone in the side of a hill
This is just a stone at the side of a very windy hillside. Nothing exciting to be seen except the view when you get there. Wouldn't recommend heading out just for this.
This site was visited during our third trip to Ireland on an "off the beaten path" kind of trek. This is off the beaten path. It's a little hard to find, but is marked, you need to watch for the sign....
A little hard to find. Follow the signed entry uphill through a cow pasture. Eventually the pillar comes into view. Good explanatory signs at the site.
We have been attempting to walk the sheeps head way in its' entirety, and for us the final section ended at Kilnaruane pillar stone. We had very clear and for once dry weather and thoroughly enjoyed ...

A singular moment
You really feel historically connected at Kilnaruane,the sence of peace,tranquillity and calm is palatable.
