Nami Island

Nami Island offers a stunning natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere and cultural charm. It’s a perfect destination for nature lovers, I would say. Occasional garden decoration, here and there, sitting on the tree stump might pleasantly surprise you. Visitors can enjoy bike rides, zip-lining… But I won’t reveal everything you can experience, so you’ll stay intrigued and discover more by visiting yourself! Worth visiting!

The name of the island originates from General Nami, who died at the age of 28 after being falsely accused of treason during the reign of King Sejo, the seventh king of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea (1455–1468).Although his grave was not discovered, there were a pile of stones where his body was supposed to be buried. It was believed that if someone took even one stone from there, it would bring misfortune to their house. A tour company arranged the grave with soil and then developed Namiseom.

It is a very beautiful island and worth a visit. In the fall, there are many tourists coming to see the yellow leaves. It is a bit crowded but it does not affect your experience too much.

I went to Nami island on Christmas Day as I was solo travelling South Korea and wanted to still feel chrismtasy. This was a great choice as the island has some beautiful scenery, animals, fountains and buildings. It’s a real cozy vibe in winter, and I throughly enjoyed myself.

The view is stunning, especially during the fall season when the leaves change to bright red, orange, and yellow colors. The island is also beautiful in spring with cherry blossoms, in summer with lush greenery, and in winter with snow-covered streets.
