May Day Travel Destination Recommendation: Leshan Giant Buddha | The World's Largest Buddha Statue
The Leshan Giant Buddha was built during the Tang Dynasty, taking over 90 years to complete. Standing at 71 meters tall, it is the world's largest stone-carved Maitreya Buddha seated statue. For thousands of years, the Buddha has sat quietly here, watching the river flow and the world change.
You must visit the site in person to truly appreciate the perseverance and the awe-inspiring nature of this colossal work. Over the years, it has embodied the efforts and sweat of generations; generations have continuously protected and restored it, which is beyond our imagination.
"The mountain is a Buddha,
The Buddha is a mountain.
Leading the mountains here,
Standing tall by the great river."
This poem is a true portrayal of the Leshan Giant Buddha.

🗓Itinerary Tips:
Enter through the north gate and exit through the south gate. You need to first reach the Leshan Giant Buddha Tourist Center, where you can choose to walk or take a boat tour.
1. Walking tour of the Leshan Giant Buddha: Enter through the north gate into the scenic area, first go to the top of the mountain to see the full view of the Buddha, then follow the "Nine-Turn Plank Walkway" on the left side down, more than 200 stone steps winding down the cliff to the Buddha's feet, and then back up to the top of the mountain. You can admire the Leshan Giant Buddha up close, every detail is truly stunning. Walking around the Buddha takes about an hour and is not too tiring.
2. Boat tour: The boat ticket is 120 yuan. Taking a boat is a better viewing position, where you can see the full view of the Buddha and also the reclining Buddha. Only then can you capture the full image of the Leshan Giant Buddha and the full image of the sleeping Buddha. If the weather is good, you may also witness a Buddha's halo.
📣Guided Tour:
Hire a local guide for about 100 yuan. If you need an explanation, you can purchase an electronic voice guide on Ctrip or book a guided tour, which is very convenient.
🖼Nearby Attractions:
There is also the Oriental Buddha Capital nearby, filled with Buddhist architecture and statues🗿, which you can also visit along the way.
🍽Food Recommendations:
There are also many Sichuan delicacies in Leshan. Recommended: Chicken Shreds with Tofu Pudding, Niu Hua's Spicy Hot Pot, Leshan Barbecue at night, Su Jiqiao Foot Beef, Sweet Skin Duck.
📌Little Tips:
1. It's best to avoid weekends and holidays, as the plank walkway is too narrow and often crowded, preventing a peaceful appreciation of the cliffside Buddhist niches.
2. For those walking to visit the Giant Buddha, be aware that the viewing walkway is really steep, so it's advised to wear comfortable shoes.
It is worth a must-go project. The mountain is not too high. It is not tired to climb. It is recommended to go to the opposite Jiangtan Park to take a look after the tour. Sanjianghui is also very spectacular. The ancients are affordable. The flood can also be used as the baseline for observation.
Very worthwhile trip, ticket purchase is very convenient, it is worth buying, Leshan Giant Buddha is very shocking, but unfortunately this climb is closed, can not go down to the foot of the Giant Buddha, and the next family trip can have a surprise
Ten years ago, I was on the river by boat to see the Buddha statue, did not climb the mountain, left a little regret. Ten years later, I came to climb the mountain, and I just encountered the plank road closed maintenance down the mountain to the riverside (May 7 ~ May 31). I couldn't go down to the river to touch the feet of the Buddha. I could only look at the Buddha statue from the top of the mountain. I left a little regret. I will come back ten years later.
After coming in, it gives people a very fresh feeling. It is really spectacular in the earth palace. The Buddha statue is lifelike. Every portrayal is really special. It is worth coming here. It will never disappoint.
The classic is superb, that is, there is a little rain on the day, there are not many people, the family is very happy, the mountain is not very high, and it is not very tired. The parking lot outside the attraction is not very good, a bit tattered, not very formal.
It is worth visiting. Very shocking Buddha, there are temples in the scenic area, and the garden design of the whole scenic area is very good. There are temple Buddha statues in the renovation. The transportation facilities are also very convenient, the lights will be on at night, and it is a scenery.
I am honored to have the opportunity to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha in the off-season. Very shocking Giant Buddha. There is no queue, orderly visit, plenty of activity time, take pictures 📷 you can find your favorite location. Very worth punching in the places of interest. The unexpected harvest is that I also saw the cliff tomb. The scenery of the whole mountain is also very beautiful, a ticket 🎫 is actually visited three scenic spots. For tourists who like to understand Chinese history and culture and appreciate cultural relics, this route can be planned with the Samsungdui Museum and many museums in Chengdu.
Landmark scenic spot, it is worth taking a look at Leshan, go to the East Gate parking lot, very close to the entrance, there is a free sightseeing car into the scenic spot, you can sit at the entrance of the scenic spot, brush your ID card into the scenic spot. Personally, I think Lingyun Temple is more worth taking time to see than the Big Buddha. The carvings on the wooden doors inside are allusions to the Buddha Gate, which is very artistic and worth watching carefully. If you don't get off the Buddha's feet, you can finish shopping in an hour. Come out and take a sightseeing bus back to the East Gate to pick up the car.
