Luhuitou Scenic Area attraction highlights
Luhuitou Scenic Area is located in the Luhuitou Peninsula in the southwest of Sanya City. There are five peaks of different sizes, with an altitude of 181 meters. The park is surrounded by the sea on three sides and adjacent to Sanya City on one side. It is a good place to climb up and look at the sea, watch the sunrise and sunset, and overlook the panoramic view of Sanya City. In 1994, Luhuitou Scenic Area was rated as a scenic spot. In 2017, Luhuitou Scenic Area was awarded the title of National 4A Tourist Attraction.

There was a young hunter of the Li ethnic group, wearing a red scarf on his head and holding a bow and arrow, chasing a deer from the Five Fingers Mountain in the hinterland of Hainan Island through ninety-nine mountains and ninety-nine rivers to the coast of the South China Sea. There was a vast ocean under the cliff on the top of the mountain in front of him, and the deer had no way to go. The young hunter was drawing his bow and arrow when he suddenly saw a flash of fire and smoke rising into the sky. The deer turned around and turned into a beautiful Li girl. The two fell in love and became a loving couple. This mountain is therefore called "Lu Huitou" and has become a love mountain where young men and women swear to each other forever.

"Don't say that the Five Rams are majestic and beautiful, they are not as elegant as the Deer Turning Back." The Deer Turning Back sculpture is the work of the famous Chinese sculptor Lin Yuhao. The sculpture is 15 meters high, 10 meters long and 9 meters wide. It took five years to carve it out of more than 170 pieces of marble. Sanya is also named "Deer City" because of it. Other works of the same period include the Nanjing Yuhuatai sculpture, the Sanya Xiaodongtian Jianzhen Eastward Journey sculpture, and the Guangzhou Five Rams sculpture.

Show More ReviewsThe scenic area is not large and not very commercialized. It's easy to reach the photo spots by taking a tour bus. The view from the top of the mountain is amazing, and it must be even better at night. The local driver said that tourists usually start queuing up at the entrance of the scenic area to see the night view around 4 or 5 pm.
