For such a small town, this museum is super interesting and good. You can learn from a great earthquake that happened in that region more than 130 years ago. It is very entertaining for all the family ...
Not only do the Neodani faults have clear traces on the ground, but they can be reached by public transportation (Tarumi Railway), so I wanted to go there for a long time, but this time I didn't have a long-awaited wish. I highly recommend it to anyone who is even a little interested in earthquakes and geoscience.
About 5 minutes walk from Mizutori Station on the Tarumi Railway. Admission is 500 yen. The Noo earthquake of M8 that occurred in 1891 is said to be the epicenter of this area. The Neodani fault is preserved in the pyramid-shaped underground observation hall, and you can see a 6m deviation that occurred up and down. There aren't many exhibits, but it's worth a visit just by looking at this fault.
It is a short walk from Tarumi Railway Midori Station. When you enter after paying the entrance fee, the sound of the earthquake will first greet you. Various exhibitions related to the earthquake are eye-catching. Especially the highlight is the underground exhibition room of the fault. The surface of the fault tells us the threat of an earthquake that still exists in this country. I was reminded of a terrible disaster in the old days of the Meiji era in such a peaceful place.
You can see the underground of the earthquake fault of a natural monument.

It is located on the Neo Valley Fault, a national natural monument that appeared on the surface of the earth during the Noo earthquake, which was a major earthquake in the Meiji period. There is also an exhibition related to the earthquake in the hall, but after all, you can dig underground of the earthquake fault and observe the underground state. If you witness the stratum shifting 6m up and down, you can see the awesomeness of the Noo earthquake.
