What travelers say:

Today, I will show you about Elton Lake, English-language Elton Lake, which is a salt lake, located in Volgograd, near the border with Kazakhstan, the largest mineral lake in Europe. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth Petrovna of Russia, from 1741 to 1761, salt was heavily mined here, and two salt fields were opened. Salt was shipped to other provinces in Russia. At the end of the 19th century, Elton Lake was banned due to overexploitation. Since 1910, mud treatment and mineral treatment sites have been built on the shore of Lake Elton, which was once visited by royal personnel. In 1945, the Elton sanatorium was established. Not far from the sanatorium, there is a mineral spring, which is said to have therapeutic effects like sand and mud. Previously, there was a "remaining crutches" museum in the nursing home. After a month or two, the patient left the crutches in the nursing home and went home healthy. So, there were a lot of crutches accumulated here.
