    Ancient building

    Original Text

It is a well preserved ancient building. Located inside Hokkaido University, along the street where the leaves looked like changing leaves.

    Forestry classroom built in 1842

    Original Text

When the school changed from Sapporo Agricultural School to Imperial University, several classrooms were created on the campus by donations from the Furukawa Zaibatsu at that time. One of the forestry classes is the Furukawa Memorial Auditorium. It is said to have been built in 1897. Since it was built as a forestry classroom, there are decorations designed with the letters "forest" on the columns and doors. The Western-style building, which shines with the whiteness of the walls, showed a personality that made me feel over 100 years old.

    It's nice.

    Original Text

It is a Western-style hall near the statue of Dr. Clark. Since it was a forestry classroom, it is said that the characters of the forest are designed between the circular columns, but I didn't understand it a little. I don't feel like it's being used now, but I want it to be preserved firmly because it's a nice building.

    Characters of 'Hayashi'

    Original Text

It is a very beautiful building with white preview boards. It seems that it was used for forestry at that time. There was a pattern of "forest" design at the front entrance. It was still used today, and the room was lit.

It was built by the Furukawa family of Furukawa Mining Co., Ltd., who ran the Ashio Copper Mine, and was used for forestry classes at that time. The exterior is a white Renaissance-style hall 々 building, designated as a national tangible cultural property, but the interior was not open to the public.
