Meng Jiangnv Temple

Jiangnu Temple is located at the foot of Jinshan Mountain in Yintai District, Tongchuan, about 1.5 kilometers away from the ancient city of Tongchuan. The legend of Meng Jiangnu that has been circulated here since ancient times has cast a bit of mystery on it. The story of Meng Jiangnu has been widely circulated among the people in my country. The Tongchuan Jiangnu Temple was built more than 1,000 years ago. After being repaired and expanded in Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it has become a large-scale temple with many temples and a long-term influence. The scenic spot was later destroyed by the reactionary army, and the Jiangnv Temple became desolate day by day. In the 1990s, the People's Government renovated and expanded the Jiangnu Temple, which now has a mountain gate, a sacrificial pavilion and a statue of Meng Jiangnu. The legend of Jiangnv Temple——According to historical materials and the stone carvings of Meng Jiangnv Temple in Shanhaiguan: "Meng Jiangnv is a member of Shaanxi Tongguan (now Tongchuan Yintai District)". According to legend, Meng Jiangnv sent cold clothes for thousands of miles, but did not see her husband's face. She was so grief-stricken that she burst into tears. She cried 800 miles down the Great Wall. She found her husband's skeleton in the collapsed ruins. So she walked back with the bones, and when they were about to reach Jinsuo Pass, Qin soldiers chased after them. In desperation, Meng Jiangnu grabbed the cliff beside her and turned around, blocking the chasing soldiers, and people turned the mountain into a moving mountain. Legend has it that when Meng Jiangnv died, tears were still flowing from her eyes, which flowed into a stone pit beside the mountain and accumulated a spring of water, which was later called "Tear Pond". Until now, this spring water is still flowing, crystal clear, sweet and refreshing, it is said that it can treat gray hair, and the elderly nearby often come here early in the morning to fetch water to make tea. The local people respect Meng Jiangnv's integrity, and built the Jiangnv Temple here, shaped the statue of Jiangnv, and set up a temple to worship. There is a hole in the stone kiln next to Jiangnv Temple. It is said that when a sincere person bows, they can see the shadow of the golden hairpin on Jiangnv's head, which is called "seeing gold in the stone gap".
