We passed this airstrip on the way home to Darwin. I saw the signs as we were driving but was knocked back a little when we saw some ímitation' planes on the runway. It took my mind into the situation...
The Strauss Airstrip was used from 1942 to 1945. It’s was a strategic part of the allied defence of northern Australia at the time. Is is just off the Stuart Highway.
