Anyue

Anyue (安岳) is a county under the administration of Ziyang City in Sichuan Province, situated in the east of the Sichuan Basin. Its name is derived from its meaning, “living peacefully on the mountain.” The Anyue Stone Carvings found in the region are “ancient, numerous, refined and full of beauty,” the vast majority of which are well preserved, and are of great aesthetic and research value. Other attractions worth a visit are the Eight Temples of the Reclining Buddha, the Shiyang Pilu Caves and the Dingxin Huayan Caves.
