Grassy Lake in Canmore. Most of the famous lakes are located in Banff, but there is one famous lake in Canmore. That is Grassy Lake! It is a lake with a different color from the emerald lakes in Banff. It takes about an hour to walk up from the parking lot to see it.

Canmore, located right next to Banff National Park! Similar to Banff, it is surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, but since it is not a national park, you can do activities that you cannot do in Banff. It is also where I lived and it is a tourist destination, but it is not crowded, so you can enjoy leisurely time.

Canada's most classic emerald glacier lake, Grassi Lakes
📍 Navigate to Grassi Lakes Trailhead
🥾 There are 2 routes for the entire trail, both the same distance, 1.7 km one way, taking about 30–45 minutes each way.
1-Upper Grassi Lakes Trail
The slope is gentle, suitable for most people, and easy to walk.
The other route passes by waterfalls and rock walls with richer scenery, but it has more stairs and requires a bit more physical effort.
💚 Be sure to go when it's sunny. The lake water is crystal clear and shows a gradient of emerald green and blue-green in the sunlight.
Not far away is Whitemans’ Pond, which also features clear water and reflections of snow-capped mountains. It is less crowded than Grassi Lakes, so if you have time, it is recommended to visit both on the same trip.
