Built in the 18th century for Catherine II's favorite, Count Grigory Orlov, the palace later became a favorite place for Paul I, who transformed it into a veritable fortress with underground passages and secret mechanisms. 🔹 What's a must-see? ✅ The Chesme Column – a monument to the victories of the Russian navy. ✅ Priory Park with the mysterious Priory – the "Maltese Chapel." ✅ Silver Lake and the White Hall – luxurious interiors from the imperial era. ✅ Underground passage (according to legend, Paul I feared conspiracies and built secret escape routes). 💡 Interesting fact: Gatchina is called a "ghost town"—it's home to legends of ghosts, and the palace itself is surrounded by mystical stories. They say the spirit of Paul I still wanders the corridors... 📅 When to visit?
