Nova Scotia is one of Canada’s three Maritime provinces, located on the country’s Atlantic coast. It is famous for its rugged coastline, charming fishing villages, lighthouses, forests, and dramatic ocean landscapes. 🏛️ A little history Nova Scotia has a long Indigenous history, particularly connected to the Mi’kmaq people. European settlement began in the early 17th century, and the region became an important area of competition between France and Britain. The French established Port-Royal in 1605, one of the earliest permanent European settlements in Canada. Nova Scotia became one of the founding provinces of Canadian Confederation in 1867. 🌊 Places worth exploring · Halifax – the provincial capital, known for its waterfront and historic sites. · Peggy’s Cove – famous for its iconic lighthouse and rocky Atlantic coastline. · Cape Breton Island – spectacular mountains, forests, and coastal scenery. · Cabot Trail – one of Canada’s most scenic road trips. · Lunenburg – a colorful historic waterfront town and UNESCO World Heritage Site. · Bay of Fundy – famous for having some of the world’s highest tides. · Kejimkujik National Park – forests, lakes, canoe routes, and Mi’kmaq cultural heritage.
