Uganda 🇺🇬【Kampala National Mosque】

Originally named the Gaddafi National Mosque, this mosque was commissioned by former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi as a gift to Uganda to benefit the local Muslim population. Completed in 2006, the mosque can accommodate up to 15,000 worshippers, with the cloister holding 1,100 and the main hall accommodating 3,500. The minaret is 50.5 meters high and requires climbing 272 steps to reach the top.

Address: Old Kampala Rd, Kampala, Uganda
Hours: 7:30-18:00 (Saturday & Sunday 8:30-16:30)
Ticket: 25,000 shillings (50 yuan) for climbing the minaret

After buying your ticket, a staff member will lead you forward and offer to take your picture. I thought it was a scam, so I refused. They led me into the mosque, telling me to take off my shoes outside, take pictures inside, go up to the second floor, take more pictures inside, come back down to the entrance, put my shoes back on, and then climb the minaret. The process ended at the main entrance. They didn't charge me a single penny.
