Ready to discover hidden gems in southern England and France? Here’s my super chill journey exploring Swanage’s vintage charm and then soaking up the unique vibes of L’Epine 🏖️☀️
Top Spots to Visit
Swanage Station 🚂
You can’t go to Swanage without checking out the old-school Swanage Railway Station (Station Approach, Swanage BH19 1HB, UK). Whether you’re a train buff or just love a bit of British nostalgia, the steam trains and retro vibes are totally worth it. Trains generally run 10am–5pm, but check before you go—weekends and school holidays are best. My tip: Pick up a coffee from the station café and get some Insta-ready shots of the classic engines!
The Square, Swanage 🌳
Right next to the station, The Square is ideal for grabbing a bench and watching daily life roll by—plus, super convenient if you want a quick snack or ice cream after your train fix. The area is surrounded by local shops and feels like stepping into a movie set, especially on a sunny day!
Getting Around & Pro Tips
Swanage is walkable—just comfy shoes are needed. To get to L’Epine, take a ferry to Noirmoutier Island (via Fromentine), or use the Passage du Gois at low tide (check times!). For food, don’t leave L’Epine without a fresh seafood lunch by the water. And, as always, check train schedules and ferry times on trip.com before you go!
