In the Ming Dynasty, there are actually three palaces in total. The earliest was the Nanjing Imperial Palace, which was ordered by Zhu Yuanzhang to be built in 1366. It is now called the Ming Palace Museum Site. 40 years later than the Nanjing Imperial Palace, the Beijing Imperial Palace began to build, which is today's Forbidden City. In Fengyang County, Anhui Province, Zhu Yuanzhang's hometown, at that time also built a Mingzhong capital, there are not many people who know. Mingzhong was built in 1369, three years later than the Nanjing Imperial Palace, and was built by Li Shanchang, the first Wenchen of the Ming Dynasty. Mingzhong has now been ruined, leaving only the ruins. According to the precise calculations of the archaeological department, the size of the palace is 120,000 square meters larger than the current Forbidden City. It was built on the basis of the Nanjing Imperial Palace. The Ming Dynasty was originally set in Nanjing, but Zhu Yuanzhang felt that Nanjing was too far from the Central Plains to control. So he built Zhongdu in the south of the 20th Mountain in Xizhou (now Fengyang). However, in the eighth year of Hongwus construction in Hongwu, the project stopped. At that time, due to the huge cost of the project, the construction of new buildings was stopped, but the construction has already been completed. The palace is quite large. Later, Zhu Yiquan moved to Beijing, farther away from Mingzhong, and the palace was slowly abandoned.
