The first meal after entering Yunnan, I heard that Zhaotong is a well-known Tianma producing area, so let's try this special chicken soup pot.
The store doesn't seem to be in the city center, but it's only three or five kilometers away, so it's quite convenient to drive or take a taxi. The girl in the store is very enthusiastic. Seeing that we are from other places, she patiently introduced the dishes and reminded us to order less so that we can eat less.
The amount of food is really not small. Four people ordered a double set meal, plus three hot pot dishes, but they didn't finish it. The small portion of chicken soup feels quite large, probably half a chicken, but it's enough for four people.

I feel that I have to drink two bowls in a row before starting to hot pot dishes to be satisfied.
There are many kinds of medicinal materials in the bottom of the pot. The white and slightly transparent pieces of Tianma are still easy to identify. They are sweet and sticky, and can also warm up the body. You must eat them.
After that, the process of hot pot is not fresh. Vegetables and mushrooms are very suitable for chicken soup. I just want to remind everyone not to order finished meat dishes, such as |shrimp balls^ and |lunch meat^. I guess they are frozen finished products. The quality is really poor. The color is inexplicably red. It is all starch when you take a bite. Basically, it is not eaten at all and wasted.
Then be careful to order |mint^, because once it is put into the pot, the whole soup base becomes mint, which somewhat destroys the freshness of the chicken soup.
|Golden pancake^ is highly recommended. It must be eaten while hot. It is crispy on the outside and the red bean filling is lightly sweet. It tastes good.
Finally, a reminder to foreign diners, especially those from the north, that Houttuynia cordata is standard in the side dish. If you are not used to it, be sure to tell the waiter in advance, don’t pick it out one by one like we did😂
People who like Houttuynia cordata really like it, but many people probably can’t swallow it in one bite, the fishy smell is really amazing😂
