Chill on Cheung Chau islandHopped on the ferry to Cheung Chau for a quick getaway. The island was peaceful with a good view. There are a few things to do such as chilling on the beach, swimming in the water, hiking, checking out named rocks and a tiny cave that pirates found (I didn’t dare to go in but heard it’s one of the must dos on this island), seafood, desserts, etc. There’s a pizza place run by an Argentinian called Cheung Chau Pizza which is really good. Cheung Chau – The most popular island in Hong Kong 🇭🇰#timetotravel Known for its giant curry fish balls, and mango mochis, Cheung Chau is one of the most popular islands to visit in Hong Kong. To those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong’s city life, Cheung Chau may not be the perfect destination as people do tend to flock to Cheung Chau during weekends and public holidays. Cheung Chau is located about 10 kilometers from the southwest of Hong Kong Island, and it is easily accessible, which is a ferry ride away from Central Ferry Pier. There are two types of ferries: Ordinary and Express. The Ordinary ferry normally would take around an hour for the one-way journey and the Express ferry normally would take around 30-40 minutes for the one-way journey. The Ordinary ferry is cheaper than the Express ferry, but I definitely would recommend just taking the Express ferry given the significant difference in the duration of the journey. The last time I visited Cheung Chau, I visited this egg café called “Si Dan” (it is an egg pun which means whatever in Cantonese), they offer and extensive selection of eggs dishes. We ordered an egg with hashbrown, and an onsen egg with mash dish, the food is really amazing. We also visited “Valor Cheung Chau” and had their pineapple ice drip coffee, which is really innovative and good. It is sad to see that it is now permanently closed… After grabbing some food and drinks, we went for a stroll along the beach and coincidentally saw a love lock wall which is very nice!! Hiking at Cheung Chau Island in HongKongSpend half a day to hike and walk around the island of Cheung Chau despite the rain in Jul 2023. Highly recommend to try the fruit mochi (mango was awesome!) and the rice roll with dough fritter (dip with sesame sauce). Plenty of supermarket and 7-11 near the jetty so you can grab water easily. Would have loved to come earlier in the morning to hike and have lunch. There wasnt any great stores that caught my attention for dinner so we went back to main HK island instead. Cheung Chau islandGetting There - Best way to get there is by a ferry. I would suggest the fast ferry, it's about 15-20 minutes faster than the normal ferry and it takes around 30 minutes. Attractions - It's a cute tropical island, with a variety of street food, restaurants and souvenir shops. If you walk across the island you can get to the beach, it's about 10 minute walk from the ferry. Food & Restaurants - I recommend trying mango mochi, frozen watermelon and fish balls. Half-day Trip to Dumbbell Island#wecreate One of outlying islands to explore if you are in Hong Kong is Cheng Chau. It is called dumbbell Island due to the shape. I came here with a friend from overseas in the afternoon to evening as we really wanted to enjoy the beach and sunset, then ended the half-day trip enjoying seafood at local restaurant. We took ordinary ferry from Central to get to this island. It was around 50-minute trip. Then, stroll around the main road of the Island, before go picnic at the beach and swim for around one hour. We are lucky as we can enjoy the beautiful sunset from the beach. It’s a compliment for our trip.Vistamika50

Little escape from Hong Kong to Cheung ChauI would highly recommend taking some time to visit Cheung Chau if you’re a frequent traveler to HK and want a quieter space for relaxation. The hustle and bustle is reduced to a few main streets and the curved roadways built on the hillsides offer a feeling of nostalgia. the beaches are generally quite quiet and there is a nice hike to the pirate’s cave nearby, which you can draw into quite easily as long as you have a flashlight (phone torch works well enough). There are quite a few seafood stalls but by far, the best was New Baccarat at the far end of the seafood stall road by the water. Other delicious food places included La Eat for Singaporean fusion food (would recommend the steak - salted and crisped to perfection with some homemade sauce) and also Kyoudai Izakaya (extremely fresh sashimi, quirky owners, delicious angus beef and okra/bacon skewers with udon). No. 11 is also a nice Western style breakfast spot with juicy burgers and a range of coffee options. nestled in a small square full of local passerbys. Travelling to Cheung Chau is fairly straightforward from Centra Pier 5 but check the schedule careful#cafe#cafe#beachlife for the fast ferry (about 30 mins) and the slow ferry (about an hour). I recommend taking the fast ferry. On the schedule, the times surrounded by blue bubbles are the slow ferries.LivyC7510

Getting There - (Very easy) Take ferry pier number 5 from Hong Kong central (there is ferry from early morning until 12 am every 40 min) Attractions - 1)Take a walk in the small center of the city, to see the islands local monuments 2)Rent a bike, there are places near the ferry where you can rent it, to enjoy a ride near the sea coast. 3)Fishing; it is possible to fish on the sand and rock beaches, some days have the luck of catch mullets fishes and sea bass, some day have just small fishes. Ps. Need to bring your own equipment. 4)Enjoy a sunny day on the beautiful beaches, with clean sands and water. Hotels - There are only six hotels in the island, with and average price between 400 to 800 hkd, in hot seasons better to book as early you can, to avoid full house. Food & Restaurants - There is street food local Hongkongnese, and several local seafood restaurants, all the restaurants offers fresh seafood, fishes, clams, lobsters, quality is good and the price is very acceptable. For the fresh quality and cheap price I recommend New Baccarat Seafood Restaurant (15 min walking from the ferry) Shopping - While you walk from the ferry to the beach, and I’m the Center of the islands you will found many local souvenirs places, typical Cheung Chau home decorations shops, place where to buy summer lady dress shops and huts for the beach. Visit Cheung Chau!Cheung Chau is an island in the Islands District of Hong Kong that my family and I, as local residents of Lantau Island, visit every year. If you do decide to visit Hong Kong, then Cheung Chau is one of the Islands that I definitely recommend that you spend time visiting. The Island is one of my grandparents’ favourite places to visit when visiting us in Hong Kong, and they have missed it greatly after not being able to visit since COVID started in 2019. They have always enjoyed arriving at the Island and going to have a coffee at the nearby Eggenberg Café BnB, before having a relaxing walk and enjoying fresh seafood at Hing Lok Restaurant for lunch. We have also enjoyed spending some time at the stalls and shops where you can buy some unique handcrafted goods, clothing and local foods. I have personally enjoyed the time that I spend at the beach just a few months ago. We stayed until sunset and were able to catch some beautiful views on the ferry. The Island can be accessed by fast ferry Central or Inter-Island (Peng Chau - Mui Wo - Chi Ma Wan - Cheung Chau) from Mui Wo (you can reach Mui Wo by bus from Tung Chung MTR Station). There are a number of places you can stay on the Island, including a few little holiday homes. The island is a good getaway from the bustling city..u can a ferry from central pier 5,its takes around 25 minutes!the island a good beach and a little shopping street too!recommended

OH MY , such amazing island! a lot of options and things to do around the island. MUST GO PLACE!!! enought for staying one day, go there in the morning before lunch time and spend the day there. i recommend to walk around there island and chill in the beach. there is tonnes of local food that you must try (such as the buns, ice creams etc) and go check the local shops
