Ginkakuji temple Getting There - bus from kyoto station This is near to philosopher's path so do consider to visit if you intend to spend about half day in this area. Entrance fee of 500yen is needed. The temple is small but very very well kept. Once you paid the entrance fee, just follow the designated path to view the place. Ginkaku-ji or the temple of the silver pavilion, are popular names of Jishōji, an important subtemple of the Shōkokuji branch of Rinzai Zen Buddhism located in Kyoto. This villa was inspired by the golden pavilion and is definitely worth a visit. The surrounding garden is most beautiful, my second favourite after Kenroku-en! In recognition of its aesthetic and cultural value, Ginkaku-ji was designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 1994. The route, a one way railed walk through the garden, takes about 30 mins to cover. The wooded grounds covered with a variety of mosses feel absolutely magical, as if a fairy will pop out from behind a tree any moment. At the very start of the route, you will be greeted by the famous sand garden which has sand piles which symbolize Mount Fuji - a beautiful and unique feature. Do not discard your ticket after your visit, you can hang it at the entry to your house as a good luck charm!

Ginkakuji Temple(銀閣寺) is located in Kyoto Japan and was built by Shogun Yoshimasa Ashikaga(足利義政). The construction first started in 1482 and completed in 1490. It is Japan's national treasure as well as UNESCO World Heritage site, along with Kinkakuji Temple(銀閣寺). Not only is the temple beautiful, but the Japanese garden around it is well worth seeing. I never thought I’d be able to visit my dream place. Although it was rainy, the beauty of the temple glowed even more. The temple used to be a Family Villa of a Shogun (Samurai Head). When the Shogun died, he ordered to transform it into a temple. The place is well-kept. There are signs and guides and security staff that help maintain its serenity. As visitors it is our obligation to avoid making loud noises and leaving trash behind. Right before exiting the temple, there’s a tea house where you can try the temple’s sweets speciality for only 500¥/5$. Again, when inside the tea house, maintain silence. Higashiyama Jisho-ji or must known as Ginkakuji meaning Temple of Silver Pavillon located at Kyoto, Japan. With its moss covered gardens, bamboo groves, and interesting dry-sand garden, it is perfectly describe “simplicity is beauty”. Even before you enter the temple grounds you are greeted by a bamboo fence lined along towering hedges. You can’t help but look up as you walk along and admire the beautiful view of a line of sky between the foliage. Entrance to the temple grounds is 500 yen. Make sure you keep your admission ticket as it also doubles as a good luck charm! You can hang these charms on the entrance way of your home or on the door of a room. The name of the Ginkakuji Temple originates from the Edo period and is known as the Ginkakuji Temple opposite the Kinkakuji Temple. Although the name is opposite to the Kinkakuji Temple, it is different from the Kinkakuji Temple. The iconic Silver Pavilion gleamed in the sunlight, offering a glimpse into Japan's rich cultural heritage. Nearby, the Philosopher's Path provided a scenic stroll along a cherry tree-lined canal, ideal for soaking in the beauty of spring blossoms. After exploring the temple grounds, I indulged in some delicious matcha treats at the nearby tea houses. Ginkakuji Temple was a timeless treasure that left me feeling rejuvenated and inspired. 🍵🌿

Kyoto, there are many temples. In my top 5, Ginkakuji is definitely on the list. Compared to the always crowded Kinkakuji, Ginkakuji is more simple and peaceful. The long path into the temple, hidden under the tree 'walls' on both sides, as you walk through, the courtyard full of white sand unfolds before your eyes, and the world seems to have quieted down. Leaving Ginkakuji, returning to the market, walking along the Path of Philosophy, how to live a good ordinary life is a 'philosophical' question that everyone needs to think seriously about.

One of the most famous temples in Kyoto is undoubtedly the Golden Pavilion Temple, and there is another corresponding temple in Kyoto: the Silver Pavilion Temple. The Silver Pavilion Temple, originally named Jisho-ji Temple, is a temple of the Rinzai sect of the Shogun's temple school. The buildings and gardens in the temple are representative of the Higashiyama culture of the late Muromachi period. It is also one of the must-visit temples in Kyoto. ⛩️History of the Silver Pavilion Temple The Jisho-ji Temple was built by the eighth shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, and was founded by the monk Muan Soshiki. During its construction, Yoshimasa imitated the shariden (Golden Pavilion) of the Rokuon-ji Temple and built a two-story building called the Kannon-den (Silver Pavilion), thus the Jisho-ji Temple became commonly known as the Ginkaku-ji Temple. 🏯Architectural highlights ✨The Guanyin Hall is not decorated with silver, and its appearance is not silver-white. Japanese people enjoy not only taking photos of flowers, but also having picnics and browsing various stalls, so many flower viewing spots are covered with plastic sheets, making the scene similar to a local park. Many cherry blossom viewing spots in Kyoto are located in ancient ⛩️ and temples. The advantage is that there are no picnicking tourists and the atmosphere of morning and night markets is relatively light, but the disadvantage is that there are too many tourists. However, all the popular tourist attractions such as Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji, Arashiyama, Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari-taisha, Tenryu-ji, Nanzen-ji... are always crowded with visitors.
