Address: 3 Kyotogyoen, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, 602-0881, Japan Entry to the palace is free. The structure and. architecture of this place is magnificent. A lot of walking is required. Guided tour were provided but have to go through some booking. I did not try their tour because I wanted to explore the place at my own pace. The view of the palace is amazing. It is exactly like those shown in dramas. Even the garden area was stunning. There were plenty of rest area around so its ok for people who cant walk too much. #wheretogo

There was some constructions works going on, and the tour is not interesting, also the emperror's throne was not there since they moved it to Tokyo for the celebration. I would recommend to go to Nijo castle, you have to pay for that one but totally worth it. #GiveThanks

#cherryblossom2024 Beautiful gardens in and around the gardens got to see the Cherry Blossoms.🌸 Inside the palace, everyone will walk in the provided flow route. The tour is the exterior and the garden. I enjoyed it.🤩 Great experience to appreciate the garden. This year, the weather in Japan has been unpredictable, posing a significant challenge to the cherry blossom viewing schedules on various websites. Plans to enjoy the cherry blossoms in Kyoto had to be adjusted repeatedly. Fortunately, the Kyoto City Museum is hosting an exhibition by Takashi Murakami, allowing me to appreciate art indoors on rainy days. The current status of cherry blossoms in Kyoto is as follows: Seiryo High School, the Kawazu cherry trees along the Yodo River, and the cherry blossoms in Kyoto Imperial Palace are in relatively good condition. I believe that after the first week of April, more cherry blossoms will start to bloom. I hope to return to Kyoto next year to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossom season.

#thingstodo A massive palace complex with majestic architecture, intricate gardens and huge courtyards worthy of the royal family. The buildings are not open to public but you can walk around them. It’s one of the main attractions in Kyoto and still used for court functions today. Parking available inside the grounds. We enjoyed our visit and hope you will too.

#2024wish The palace was the residence of the Japanese emperors for over 500 years until 1869 when the capital moved to Tokyo. There is no need for a guide since there is a very informative brochure given out in several languages. No one can enter any of the buildings. The gardens would be stunning in the spring with the cherry blossoms but were beautiful with the unique trees, stone bridges and a meandering stream. I want to visit Kyoto this year again.

Most of the tour is exploring the exterior and the garden. I’m quite enjoy but it would be better to know more about story or the detail inside that relate to the royal culture. Or more explanation about the exterior detail or even the garden. However, its was a fine experience to appreciate the garden. Their tree arrangement is the best. I wish to travel more to many prefectures in Japan.
