the best part of all the Jiuxiang caves. in this area none of the awful rainbow lights is used, just normal lighting which is great because you can see all of the ancient, natural features of the rock terraces. this was a very tranquil spot. 

stunning!!! really breath taking scenery 

a really awe inspiring place. the caves are huge and cover such a large area. go as early as possible to avoid tour groups. the major downside is that due to the multicoloured lighting inside the caves its very trashy looking and you cannot see any of the natural features of the caves. we wished they had just used normal lighting as the rainbow lights detract from the natural beauty completely 

awesome place!!! totally magical. we were there on a rainy day and it was still alot of fun. the park is so big that (even though there are lots of people), there are few crowds. pack a picnic and lots of water as there are lovely stone picnic tables throughout the park you can eat at and relax. easy access from Kunming by bus or train to Shilin and bus. both affordable and easy
