In the CBD, the Ortia Center is a large public square located on Queen Street just between City Hall and Ortia Center, which was opened in 1979 by Mr. Dove-Myer Robinson, a former mayor of Auckland, and redeveloped in 2010. We visited the square on our usual weekdays and sat many people eating lunch here. The main center of the square was an arch named Waharoa, made of wood and copper by a man named Selwyn Muru. Although not a very attractive square, it is worth visiting when passing through the city.
