Baopingkou Review

The Dujiangyan Canal Head Hub Project is mainly composed of three main projects: the Canal Head Fish mouth water dike, the Feisha spillway and the Baopingkou diversion channel. These three projects, adopt the scientific method of "diversion and diversion of river, building and diverting water", have a strict structure and perfect layout, forming an organic whole that is interdependent and mutually restricted, and receives the benefits of "draining water and irrigation fields, flood diversion and mitigation". And the project is still playing a role today, known as the "Living Water Museum". It is also the oldest and only large water conservancy project in the world to date, characterized by no dam and water diversion. Aquarius, this is the key to the Dujiangyan project. The Lijiang River is running here, flowing to the vast fields and villages, benefiting all things on earth. The isolated pile after separating from Yulei Mountain, which was irrigated by the Lijiang River Irrigation Plain in the western Sichuan Plain. Because it is separated from the mountain, it is called off the pile. On the one hand, the excavation of the bottle mouth makes the inner river water rush here and be lifted from the pile, forming a ripple and turbulence, so that the water is more clarified, and then the entrance. During the flood period, the Neijiang River will not flood into the narrow bottle mouth in large quantities, so it has to flow back to the river from the flying sand to the outer river, and play a role of restraining gates to ensure the safety of Chengdu Plain. On the other hand, the Neijiang River water flow through the bottle mouth, and then divide into tens of millions of irrigation channels through the large trunk canals. Composing a crisscrossed fan irrigation network, making the western Sichuan plain thousands of miles of wild, agricultural production, become "the country of heaven".

A water inlet cut from Yulei Mountain to the long ridge of the Lijiang River is the "throat" of the water in the Inner River irrigation area. The water flow limit at the bottle mouth restricts the water flow into the Chengdu Plain, and increases the flood discharge effect of flying sand by co-existing high water flow.

Baopingkou is a part of the Chengdu Dujiangyan water conservancy project, which was a channel with a width of less than 20 meters that was manually excavated at that year, and can adjust the water intake of the inner river. It overlooks from a high place, like a bottle mouth, the best position to overlook is the top floor of Fulong View, you can see the beauty of the Lijiang River through the bottle mouth.
