Meiyu is a township within the county of Hakawa, Hokkaido, located in the middle of Hokkaido's second largest city, Asahikawa, and Furano, known for lavender. Meiyu's streets and pastoral scenery are similar to rural European scenery. The vast hilly terrain, quiet and stable hills and summer flower fields have become a very famous tourist attraction in Hokkaido, attracting about 1.5 million tourists every year.
