The temple was built during the reign of Suyehama II in the early 12th century. The temple of Tomajo, 170 meters north of the temple, was built for the same period, and its layout and structure are exactly the same. But it is unclear why the two buildings were built. Only in the late 19th century, when Diko, a French officer in Cambodia, discovered the building, learned from the local population that the temple was dedicated to ChauSay, so the French named it the temple of Zhou Sa (ChauSayTevoda).
