Dongga Temple was built in the early 16th century and has a history of more than 500 years. It is a branch temple of the Huangjiao Tashilunbu Temple. It is located on the hillside west of Shangya Dongxiang, 13 kilometers away from the county seat. It is named after Dongga Mountain. It is the largest and most influential Gelun temple in Yadong. It is also a temple of great significance in modern history of Tibet. There are still late Qing cultural relics in the temple.
