Located in Sembulan, the Double Six Monument was erected on the site where a fatal plane crash happen on June 6, 1976 - hence the name. It was a very tragic time for Sabah as the airplane carried the fifth Chief Minister, Tun Mohd. Fuad Stephens and six other state ministers, killing everyone on board. I lived near the Double Six Monument in Kota Kinabalu. It's located in a small park right near the Grace Vill Food Court. It's a good hangout place for the locals. Monument is not so big, but it remembers the site of the 6 June 1976 fatal plane crash known as the Double Six Tragedy bearing the first Chief Minister of Sabah, Tun Fuad Stephens, as well as six other State ministers.
